Good story Emu. I hope you keep writing it. I'm glad Crispin wasn't hurt, I like him. I thought Manannan was going to try to cut his throat with his claws or teeth, but I guess a domestic cat doesn't have big enough claws or teeth to kill a person. I wonder what will happen next. I like the idea of the black cloak society having a "wanted" poster of King Graham in their headquarters. lol

Cool! :) I like the idea of a hidden notice board, and you dealt with cat limitations nicely. ;)

Daventry awoken
Manannan tried to act as inconspicuous as a jet black house pet can look in the wild. He had rigourously rolled around in dirt until his fur had become a dirty grey, but other than that, there was not much he could do to disguise himself. If only the spell that had entrapped him in the form allowed even the smallest of physical transformation! How Manannan would love to have a moustache, a beard, a top hat, a suit, anything! But then he reconsidered, and thought of how peculiar it would look to see a bearded cat with a tuxedo and top hat wandering through the lush forests of Serenia. Still, he wished he at least had the ability.

Manannan had stayed with that buffoon, Crispin, long enough to know that his messenger would be that eternally annoying pet owl, Cedric. And Cedric, gifted with the power of flight, would clearly take the fasted and most efficient route from Mordack's Island to Daventry, which was through Serenia. At least, this was what Manannan had to assume. He had no other leads.
The search for Cedric was becoming particularly uncomfortable. Having to hold his wand in his mouth, which initially seemed like a good idea, was really starting to dry out his throat. How Manannan longed to simply give himself wings, as he used to, and soar above the earth. But such transformations were very far off, and with every hour, Manannan began to doubt that Alexander would ever allow him to have his true form again. With every step he took, he cursed Alexander and his rage grew deeper. Someday, he would have his revenge. Manannan swore it.

Cedric had been flying non-stop for many hours. He was not far from Daventry, but day was dawning, and Cedric was becoming very tired. He reckoned that he was slightly beyond the half-way point, but he could not be sure. His only experience in this area of the land was with Graham, and they were traveling at a much slower pace. The freezing mountain air had worn Cedric out, and he vainly searched for an area that would be suitable for rest. Of course, he could not find one. No tree could survive in this frigid land. And even if Cedric did find a decent tree, it would not be wise to fall asleep here. Cedric didn't particularly like the idea of awakening and discovering that he was being chewed apart by wolves. Sighing, he pressed onwards. It would only be an hour or two before he reached the borders of Serenia.

Graham stroked his new beard lovingly. "Ah yes, I rather like this beard." he said to himself, as he had said so many times that week.
The notion that King Graham had gotten quite eccentric with his age had rapidly gained popularity recently. The people of Daventry just sighed, and said that he'd gone the way of all great minds. Along with the talk of Graham's slow descent into madness, people began to question who would rule Daventry after his death. All of his children had left the country to govern other ones, leaving Graham alone here. Which was fine and good, since Graham was a great kind- but what are they to do when he dies?
Thus, Daventry was thrust into a political war. And since the country was always ruled by monarchy, they were not professionals at organizing themselves. A week after it was first brought up that there may need to be a whole new rule of Daventry, five major parties were formed.
The Traditionalists, who would attempt to imitate King Graham's reign as best as they could. Their leader was Connor MacLyrr.
The Liberatarians, who had many of the same ideals and beliefs as the Traditionalists. They wanted Daventry to be mostly the same as it was under the rule of people like Edward the Benovolent and Graham, but with slightly more relaxed laws and more policital freedoms.
The One True GodTM Party, who believed that there should be no separation between Church and State. This party was met with a fair deal of public outcry. People claimed that Daventry would be plunged into the same situation Kolyma was in only a few years ago.
The Aggressasarian Party, who, as the name suggests, believed that Daventry should take a more aggressive approach to economics and war. They insisted that Daventry will never move out of the past and into the future until they start expanding and putting much more effort into the work force.
Last, and certainly least, the Silly Party. They didn't support anything or have any ambitions, other than to eventually die. Even if Graham went completely insane, electing this party would be leaping out of the frying pan and into the fire. None of the other parties had any reason to fear them, since they would assuredly get very few votes. In fact, some of their own members would probably vote for other parties.

Graham fondled his beard for a few more minutes. "Yes," said he, "it was quite a good decision to grow this."

Oh dear God, what have you done to King Graham and to Daventry?! The political parties are sort of ok, but having poor Graham going senile, (you know, not all old people go 'eccentric' or loose their minds when they get old, a lot of them stay sharp, some become a little forgetful though) and the idea of Connor becoming king, ew, yuck, how horrible! Rosella should be queen. I'm working on a way to make that happen, I'm gonna have her both marry Edgar and be queen of Daventry in my fanfic. I know it's been a long time since I worked on it, I've had many distractions and other writings I've been working on. I am of the opinion that Connor is too stupid to be king of anything. I'm a moe hater, but not as strong as Storm.

Nice hearing from you again, Dragonstar!  ;D

Yeah, I thought it's going to be a serious story up until now :S
I'd still like to see where it's going though :D

I'm going to risk sounding moderate here and say that it's not that Connor is too stupid to rule - even if he was smart, he's still be too noble to usurp the throne. A true, worthy king should step up when he's called for, not try and take the leadership just because he wants to  :)
