Stupid chessboard question

Sorry if this seems redundant but I can't seem to figure this thing out. I can block all the pieces that move on white tiles (I have a red tile) but do I need a white tile to block the red chess piece?? Can someone point me in the right direction of finding that piece if I do?

Look at the tile in your inventory and see what happens when you touch it.
