Really? I thought that art was the most time-consuming part.

In my experience, the longest and most boring part is the sprite work. Take a standard EGO sprite, it'll move in all 8 directions at about 10 frames per direction, that's 80 copies of the one sprite. This doesn't include all the other animations like bending over, swimming, eating, flying like an eagle etc. It's just mind numbing boring work.

The backgrounds are the easiest because you can see progress straight away and it keeps motivation up.
Adriana: You were saying she's got a nice ass!
Christopher: I was trying to say something positive because she is your friend.

I think that AGDI should redo KQ4 if possible. I really like their concept of smoothing over some wrinkles of the game and tying them all together with the "Thrice now I curse..." concept. They already did the other three wonderfully and even got Josh Mandel to play Graham why not finish the last game to be remade? Or maybe IA could take it up. They redid three why not four? Plus their doing an adventure that chronologically is taking place between KQ2 and KQ3. Somebody should do it. I have tried to contact MM but their comments are closed. I suppose that company is either shut down or progressing at the rate of a snail. :P

No!  No contrived overarching villains or prophecies!  Bad fanboys!  Bad!!

AGDI won't be doing it, at least not for free.  They're working on a commercial title right now called 'Mage's Initiation', an adventure RPG that calls to mind 'Quest For Glory'.

We at IA don't have any intentions of doing it, currently.  We have our hands filled with a lot of stuff.  Mostly snacks and beverages.

Magic Mirror games did quite a bit of work on it, and then ran out of steam and time - this often happens with fan projects.  People don't realize the amount of work and time that you have to put into them, and things fall apart - everyone loses interest, and then they all wander away to spend their days playing Minesweeper and weeping.

There's currently two other groups pursing a remake of KQ4; one lead by Karen, who did some work on MM games version.  She's doing hers with pre-rendered 3D models, and the other is led by a lady who goes by the name of Nightfable - hers is hand-drawn.

I wouldn't expect anything anytime soon.

THIS.  It was already a stretch shoehorning the Father into KQ3 as it is.  KQ4 certainly doesn't need to be any more complicated.

...though I wouldn't mind if AGDI did a short stand-alone game wherein Graham kills the Father.  The key word there being standalone.

It is quite unattractive. Rosella looks like a troll. Nose is too big.

Rosella

A troll? I can't believe I'm a troll! I'm not a troll, am I?

That said, the backgrounds look nice, but I don't think this is something that's going to get finished.

wow you guys shock me ive never known the community her to be so hostile towards another fan project espicalin the spirit of kings quest finished or not i can say that it is a beautiful piece of work

Rosella

I don't think it's hostility per se. I think it's more that we have a lot of people here who know the difficulties of creating a game and the realistic possibility that it might not get finished.

...And Rosella really does look kinda creepy.

Yeah, I wish them all the luck in the world, but if I had a nickel for every little excited group that put out a few screenshots, and then filled the rest of their rantings with wishy-washy pictures of what they might like to do - I'd be a rich man now.

I'll believe it when I see it.   And, on a personal note, I hope I never see it because those models look like they came from straight from the bowels of hell and are imbued with no soul.

Starting to look like unicorn tales is planning more than just a kq4 remake :-\

I wonder if these are in-game stills, or just hopefull artworks. Hopefully the latter, as they seem too 'pretty' to be working stills. As eager as i am for a modern version of 'The perils of Rosella', id personally rather a simple illustrative 'point and click' speech pack style that is reminiscent to the original 5 and 6, like what mmgames was promising before they recently went mia. And im shocked unicorntales even considered remaking Heir today, Gone tomorrow. i mean, whyy?  ???

Best leave the 3d artwork to the proffessionals, fellas. geez.

But... I like the The Father plot.

Note that their "To Heir is Human" remade backgrounds are based on AGDI's own re-imagined and re-drawn backgrounds.

The "Time to Journey Once More" image on their front page is based off of an old TSL poster, too. Plus the phrase came from our game...but you can also tell by Rosella's hair and outfit, specifically.

ETA: Also, weird, I can't see the galleries now...
