Well Say the problem is that I lost my keycard to Cesar’s secret underground lair

Oh yeah!  I forgot that Cesar was Batman with a blonde wig!  XD  (You have to check the archives for this one, only us older members remember this scary day on the forums  ;P)

Congrats webteam on the new additions! :)

But, um...the Haven?  I...don't get it.

Exactly what I'm trying to figure out Jeysie! How is the Haven different at all from Off-Topic??

I guess you guys didn't notice.  The "craziness" from the Off Topic forums have moved to Haven.  ;P

Off Topic is now for topics that are just non-kq related.  Not necessarily all serious, but they are less "insane".  ;P

Oh and Haven has a bunch more things like all the Woots & What The polls, contests, games, and more.

Anyway, check out the Newsletter for some info, but more importantly read the Haven stickies for the rules and stuff to know more.  :)

Very well said Say!

Personally I think this a great new way to approach things. It lets parts of the forum say nicely "on track" while creating a new place to keep our unique and imaginative conversations going!  In essence we're having out cake and eating it too!

I love cake... <3 but I digress.

I think it's a good idea.  I used to get lost in the Off-Topic forum, but now I have somewhere that I can be CRAZY AS I WANT in :D

it sure helps, cuz honestly it was getting insane to keep track of ALL of them in ONE place, at least it is so much better now, I know our frequent posters post ALL over the forum like the kq9 webteam, so at least it is somehow "organized" now :P

Heh. Well, I suppose it is nice keeping things organized, although since nowadays I just use the "View New Posts" option, and I always reply to what the current topic of a thread is, it doesn't really matter to me what section a thread is in. ;)

As for your "no personal or weird threads would be allowed elsewhere" supposition... I have to admit I wonder what other forums you guys frequent. All of the threads in off-topic (and now the Haven) here would be pretty typical in insanity and sentiment for several of the forums I've been at over the years. Made me feel right at home here, sorta. ;)

If anything, you folks here are already more controlled over what sort of craziness you allow compared to the other places I post! ;-D

Even though nobody's posted to me yet, I feel like I should clarify before anyone jumps down my throat. I hate it when that happens, they never go down very well. Darn limbs and stuff.

Anyhoo. I've read, posted, and even moderated at a fair number of boards and newsgroups. And this forum is, far and away, one of the most pleasant to post at.

I've been at places that regularly had nasty problems that aren't even on this forum's radar... including the one I moderated at, unfortunately. And I've seen worrying over "problems" here that wouldn't even cause an eyelash wiggle anywhere else.

You guys have managed to end up with one of the friendliest and good-natured fanbases *and* one of the coolest websites I've had the pleasure of encountering. So it saddens me a little to see you guys stressing yourselves out sometimes pushing yourselves so hard when you're already by far a high-class act.

I find that trying to be perfect rarely ever results in anything other than increased hypertension-reduction prescriptions. ;) Do yourselves a favor and relax a little (Just a little, I know you couldn't survive more than that. ;) ). You're already one of the best, and we all love you for it. :)

I mention the real places such as gamespot (with large fan community) and well, personally I've been to many online gaming forums, other fan communities places and I cant even open a thread with "hey everyone" without everyone screaming at me "STFU U NOOB" its kind of stupid if you ask me, but oh well, I do admit not every single place you can have as much room or be yourself without the fear that you will be automatically like... limitated by the same community sometimes.

I've seen some forums with really psychotic Off Topic sections, some that have everything neatly organized, and some that just lock threads like there's no tomorrow.  ::)

Personally, I would never want our community to turn into a place that says "STFU N00BIE!".  I would rather have people posting a link to a thread that already answers the question than just saying "we already answered that question 60 times <locked>" cuz I find that pretty rude, bad PR and bad moderating, in my opinion.  It is sad because it happens a lot in many forums.  :-\

Anyway, I also loved the idea of Haven and having all the craziness in one place! ;D  It's great for newbies that don't get the jokes and/or couldn't care less about some of the silly stuff AND it's great for those of us that don't want to worry about going off topic in a thread or a thread getting moved/split/locked because it has done so.

ugh I got that before, it has made ME leave forums, cuz I dont want to be in a place where Im threated that way, and yeah it has happened to me at other(s) forum(s) before (I really shouldnt say names it would be rude, but even doing PR you try to get along with the fans and you just get shut down and pratically kicked out of the place), but yes, as Neil said, bad PR and lousy mod (as in dictatorship) I find it to be not just rude but plain stupid, there are million ways to say things, and to act, I still believe that even if you get to do wrong things could work out, not to be like banned from it just because. Rude, horrible and plain stupid.

I've read forums like that... never posted in them... who would want to? Makes me wonder how they got any members in the first place.

I can't imagine anyone *here* ever acting like that, though!
