No, this title does not refer to any kind of video game - I'm actually talking about finding my childhood memories xD

The thing is when I was little (probably 5-7 y.o.) my siblings used to play that video game on our first computer (Windows 95). Unfortunately I can't remember what kind of game it was! I don't even remember anything from its plot, characters - I just remember the following:

- Its game system was similar to click-and-point-adventures - probably similar to KQ ...
- The graphic was not too good, but actually rather colorful. I have looked at several pictures of KQI-III because I thought this could be the game, but they didn't ring a bell at all - and they weren't as colorful as the game from my memories...
- The main protagonist you had to play with was male, and probably he was a Prince or something (I can weakly remember my siblings fighting about whether he was or was not a Prince/king/noble-something ...)
- I can remember that - If the protagonist was in the wild, so to say outside a village or city, he would have to make an open fire when he went to sleep; otherwise the wild animals would have attacked him.
- I can remember that there was a LOT OF text all tha time - so probably there weren't any voices. I can remember how angry I always was because I wanted to know what was going on but I couldn't read, and so I was just pissed most of the time while my siblings were having fun ...

Why don't I ask my siblings? Well, first I will as soon as I have the opportunity, but actually I wanna surprise them with some pictures or videos of the game - especially my brother enjoys finding old memories of his childhood that seemed forgotten... However, if nobody of you can help me I'll ask them for some more information.

Why do I ask you instead of looking for it on my own? I just thought you all enjoy Quests very much, and a good riddle is always fun, right? And I think the wisdom of some of you is way more efficient to use than any stupid google picture searchbar...

Thanks for all the help, I am looking forward to solve the riddle with you :D

Was it a DOS game or a Win95 native? Did it have a first person or a third person view? Were the graphics handdrawn, live action  or pixelart? You should propably browse the Mobygames archives for somethign familiar.

I found a candidate from the appropriate timeframe:

I couldn't tell you what this game was, but I'm sure you'll find the answer your looking for. We're big questors here, and I'd be rather surprised if you didn't find an answer here. I hope you find out what the game is!

I agree that it sounds a lot like Quest for Glory III (especially the part about having to start a fire in the wilderness).

It's understandable that you would debate whether or not the main character was a prince/noble or not, since he was born as a commoner (I think ... I can't recall if it was ever explicitly said, but that's what's implied), but was adopted by the Sultan of Shapeir, and thus became a prince.

Altough I think that the graphics of the game werent that modern as it is here ... That's probably the right game :D
Especially the one picture of that savanna kinda rings a bell. Also the time seems right to me (since we have to consider that the games used to be released years later in Switzerland than in the USA ;) )

I'll ask my brother and my sister for a final confirmation, but I am pretty sure it's the one :D And now I'll go and watch some walk throughs ...
Thx very much !!!

So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

It's supposed to be yes, though for some people it doesn't actually work out totally perfectly (like my older brother's "wingspan" is about 3" longer than he is tall), but technically it should be pretty spot on for the vast majority of people.
