I can say it's not some obscure Czech production or an AGS game that no one ever played ;)

I was about to suggest Zelda: Majora's Mask until you said the lawyer bit. :P

Well Zelda's not adventure either. Action-Adventure, but it's a different genre as far as I'm concerned.

It's Darkseed. I think Darkseed 2, but I'm not fully sure.

The original Darkseed is one of my fav adventures ever.

And Fable isn't that bad. Nothing extraordinary, but it's not that bad.

Cez wins, although it's the original Dark Seed, not 2.

Never played 2 - are Delbert and his dog in that as well? ;)

What's Darkseed about? Games with the name "dark" in them always sound cool to me lol.

I don't remember, honestly. I could never finish 2. GK2 and Phantasmagoria had spoiled it for me being so  cinematic that when I got to play Darkseed 2, everything being so static and the lack of cutscenes to accentuate the dramatic parts just killed it for me.

yay, what do I win? Oh, wait, I guess it's my turn now. Ok, Let me go think of something and I'll be right back.

A writer discovers a passage to a dark, parallel world in his newly bought house. He also finds out that he's a host to an alien creature.

The game is mostly notable for having backgrounds painted by probably the most high-profile artist to work on an adventure game ever; namely H.R. Giger. Due to his demands, Dark Seed was one of the first - if not THE FIRST - adventure game to be presented in 640:400 resolution. Mind you, that was 1992. I played it on Amiga and my TV didn't agree with the game at all. The screen was flickering constantly. However, I have to say that it was probably the most visually striking game on the market at the time.

Ok, let's see if you guys are true adventure gamers.

1. Your ego is a British photographer.
2. You are investigating a conspiracy tied to an astronomical event.
3. It's based on a certain mythos by an American author that died at 46.

Can I answer or should I sit this one out?

Cez

I'd say give the others a bit of time to reply --that is if you are absolutely sure of your answer :)

There's no shadow of doubt in my mind that I'm right, but I'll try to find myself another way to decrease my productivity for a while ;)

Congrats, rado, I was indeed thinking of Conquests of Camelot.

And Cez, are you referring to Alone in the Dark?

(looks up a bunch of Lovecraftian games)

Is it Shadow of the Comet?

and we have a winner!

That game.... I don't know if there was a manual I didn't have, or a clue that I missed, but you had to develop photographs in that game with a precise formula. Well, I couldn't find how anywhere in the game, so I pulled an encyclopedia (no internet at the time), found the exact formula needed to develop photos, and boom, I solved the puzzle! One of the most satisfying (and frustrating) experiences ever!

I guess I'm not a true adventure game fan... I seriously need to get out and play these games. I wonder when Gog will add them...

DD, you are just too young. These are the games I grew up with. I played them through my childhood and teen years.
