I told you it's underappraciated :)

The game's based on a property that was immensely popular at the time.

X-Files game.

EDIT:  I do want to give others a chance to put forth a challenge, so if this guess is correct, I'll let the next person to post on this thread who hasn't suggested a game before (anyone who isn't myself, Rado, or Cez) determine what the next challenge will be.

Oh, man, that's the first game that I thought of, but the whole divorced main guy teaming up with a female police threw me off. Of course, there was nothing in that line that didn't say he was an FBI officer himself!

I enjoyed this game. Not a LOT, but did enjoy it. Of course, I am a big X-files fan.

Sorry, although I guess those are the things that make me like the game so much. You never actually see his wife, but she's everywhere. The divorce papers in Craig's apartment, the notes on his board, the emails you can exchange with her, even unanswered calls - all these things tell a story. The game really rewards role-playing in that regard - if you want to immerse yourself in Craig's world, there's a lot of optional material to get through.

As for Astadourian, I like how reactive the relationship is (and that applies to the whole game). If you go through game data, you can see how they recorded various reactions to the same things, based on how she feels about you. Even some death sequences change depending on your standing with her. Great, great stuff.

Well then, whoever next posts (and is not Cez, rado, or myself) gets to list 3 features of another game to start the challenge again!

1.  You begin on a mission to save the world.
2.  You save the world on accident and then end up trying to save yourself.
3.  Green rocks are bad.

It sounds a bit like Bill, The Galactic Hero (I know, not an adventure game, and I don't even remember anything about green rocks from that book, but it's what came to mind).

wilco64256

Nope again!

Keep guessing, I'm heading home from work now but will check on things in about half an hour!

I'm presuming it's LucasArts' The Dig.

OK, here goes.

1) The hero of this game (and its sequel) is a world-famous public domain literary character.
2) The gameplay occurs entirely within one large city; you unlock locations over the course of the game, and travel around using a street map.
2) It had a console port, which replaced the PC version's hand-animated, mostly unvoiced character dialogue portraits with FMV clips of actors in costume, including full voice acting.

Sherlock Holmes...? Vs Jack the Ripper? Or the scapel one?

1 & 2 could both apply to Sherlock Holmes: Quest for the Crown Jewels.  But that's a text-adventure game.

sounds like the sherlock holmes sega cd one.
