in theory, it could have been GK1, too, yes :)

I thought so XD Hmm, I wonder which other pairs of adventure games could be described so they both match the clues...
Prince of the Aquitaine. Duke of York.

Knight errant and consort to Her Grace the Empress Deloria of the Holy Roman Empire, Queene of all Albion and Princess Palatine.

I'm not sure how this works, but here's another.....

1)  Tootsweet

2)  Carbuncle Elementary

3)  Trouble Meter

The Adventures of Willy Beamish, but you didn't answer the earlier so you skipped a riddle by posting this.

1. Loosely based on a movie that had an antagonist that had an abnormality defined by Dr. Klaus Patau
2. Someone ate your father's right hand.
3. Burn, baby, burn!

Here are some more clues:

1. The movie it is loosely based on was directed by Dario Argentino.

drunkenmonkey

Is it one of the  Black Mirror games.

drunkenmonkey

Hmmm, is it, Alfred Hitchcock's The final cut.

No. Still older.

The game doesn't have any 3D. Pre-rendered or polygon.

Here are some more hints:

1. Phenomena
2. Connelly
3. Point and click, but not on a computer

Clock Tower

(and yes, I totally google-fu'ed this one, but it's not like a lot of people were jumping into the fray).

Clock Tower

Bingo. Clock Tower: The First Fear. A point 'n click survival horror game originally released in 1995 for the SNES in Japan. The story and visual settings are partly inspired by the 1985 film Phenomena directed by the famous giallo director Dario Argento (Suspiria, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Demoni). Especially the main character of Jennifer Simpson had been drawn to look like Jennifer Connelly, who starred in Phenomena.

The main antagonist, Scissorman is also drawn to look like the killer from Phenomena that had Patau syndrome. The Phenomena killer is even named Patua. And yes, at some point in the game your father's hand gets eaten and a baby burns.

You know, I always thought that finding answers is more noble than straight away knowing them. Kinda like in stories. It's not the destination but the trip itself that is more rewarding.

1. Something stinks here, and it's not just your puzzle-solving ability
2. You're talking complete nonsense
3. This game has already been mentioned at least once in this thread

Post Mortem?

... no.

Another hint:

There is one particular puzzle in this game which is (in)famous.

Deloria

Holy Roman Empress
Queen of *all* Albion
Précieuse and salonnière! :D
"In cases of doubt about language, it is ordinarily best to consult women."-Vaugelas
Space! :D Extraterrestrium! :D Espace! :D

glottal

It's not Space Quest VII.

Another hint:

One of the deaths is caused by a brick hitting your head.

MikPal

It's an Infocom game, right?

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

And we have a winner!

Hints number 1 and 2 are quotes from the game.  The (in)famous puzzle is the Babel Fish puzzle, which I actually did not think was that hard.

Try being a 10-year old without any real schooling in the english language besides the one you got from watching The Children's Channel through your neighbours satellite dish. Perhaps then you'll see the frustration and the final WTF-moment fifteen years later when you read the solution. To me, that game ended when someone started talking gibberish and you'll end up in space. And thanks for the pretzels.

------

I'm feeling generous, here's four clues:

1. The developers, according to their own words, interviewed over 2000 members of the target demographic before starting the production.
2. The company that made this game actually bough out their own parent company and then sold it.
3. Marvelous, cool, kinetic movement, ever-lasting friendship, non-conformist, zany, ingenious, and empowered.
4. You can make out with a cowboy in a barn. Next to a horse. Eeeee....

glottal

I don't think Hitchhiker's was written with 10 year-olds who only knew English through their neighbor's Children's Channel in mind (and I suspect, under those circumstances, you were only even able to get up to the babel fish part because English and Swedish are closely related).
