Is it strange to buy the same game on two different systems?

This is an awkward situation for me. I had purchased Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse for the PS3. It was full price, but I did get Braid for free, so I thought it was a pretty good deal. But the PC elitist in me wants to get all of the Sam and Max titles on the PC, and Steam is having a sale that allows you to pick up all three seasons for $17. I am intrigued considering I only have the first season of Sam and Max on the PC and I bought it through retail. If I get the bundle, I'll be able to play through all of the seasons of Sam and Max, but it'd be weird to get Sam and Max 3 on two separate systems. What do you guys think?

If it is worth the $17 for you to have it on your PC then go for it.  Who cares what other people think.
I didn't know how much I really enjoyed the Sierra Adventure Games until I played them all over again 15 years later.

Yeah, I say do whatever you want. But thanks for posting about it, because I hadn't heard about the sale. I'm off to buy Season 3 now. ^_^
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

The only problem I have with the PC version of season 3, is that we never got the Nutri Specs, that Telltale promised...

I bought PC originally, since I don't have PS3, and primarily use PC... Play games on laptop now.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I normally find it absurd to buy games on more than one system. I'm just thinking that it's a really good deal. I just wanted to get a consensus before I made a decision. Thanks.

You can do what you want with your money. If you will get the series on PC eventually, might as well be at a reduced price, it's good to know you have them available for download. Series 3 is never better than on the ps3, though, and with the new controls it feels right.

Yeah, I already got Season 3 for the PS3, and I like the controls. It's just $17 for the entire series is a pretty good deal, and I never played Season 2 before. So I figured I'd pick it up and have everything. These Tell Tale Games seem to belong on the PC, no matter how much they configure the controls for their games.

As far as deals go, back before BttF episode 1 came out they gave special deals for anyone who preordered.  The last deal was 80% off anything they sold.  I was able to get a holiday pack (it had all 3 sam and max, wallace and gromit, puzzle agent, both bones, poker night, and strong bad) for $10.  I wish I would have bought a few of them to give as gifts.  My point is that they always have awesome deals, so if you miss this one, another will roll around.  I was able to get ToMI for $5 on a special as well.  Just pay attention and act when you think it is worth it.

Is it weird that I'll buy a movie on both Bluray and DVD? Not really. If you prefer one console over another then I'm sure that the manufacturer wont complain. They just perform differently. For me, I by DVD and Bluray together if I can cause right now DVD is more convenient, but I like Bluray more. It'd be the same for you. IF you don't mind spending the $$$ then why be ashamed?

I bought Return to Castle Wolfenstein on two systems, PC and XBox, because the XBox version added a few new levels, and new enemy encounters. Actually I got the xbox version a few years after the PC version.

But in general if a game is an exact port, I don't bother.

This is true. Ace Attorney (Phoenix Wright 1) originally came out in only Japan on Gameboy Advanced, and when they ported it to DS for the english market, they added a level that made use of the touch screen. Made it worth it to the fans to rebuy the game on DS :)

That's the conundrum that I am in. I already bought the games, but I'm pretty sure as long as I don't install and play them before my credit card bill comes, Valve can offer a refund. But they're very picky. I might just be having buyers' remorse, but I just consider the games to be too similar to what I have already experienced. Like I said, I got Season 1 through retail and got Season 3 on the PSN. I wasn't really missing out on too much, but I bought the three seasons impulsively and am now wondering if I was too hasty. Sorry if I'm being too annoying with my indecisive ramblings. I'm just venting. :P

Well, $17 is less than the regular price for any of the seasons (though not lower than the sale prices). So even for just season 2, it's not a bad deal.

Actually I remember now I bought Season one twice, first on CD-rom, then a digital version. Mainly because my cd drive was starting to reject the CDs! Don't know why.

I've also bought multiple versions of the various KQ collections over the years to get ahold of the various bonus items, and assist in research for the Omnipedia. Course I payed maybe $5 each for used copies.

I also picked up pc copies of the splinter cell games for my PC when I wanted to play through them again, but didn't have access to my consoles. It looks nicer graphically, higher resolution, but loses something in the tactile/vibration and control department.

I suppose there are a few other games I've bought twice (second time on steam), GoG or the like because of the convenience of digital games!

Alright, I'll keep them. Thanks guys. I once again apologize if I'm being a nuisance. I don't normally buy games a second time, so I was unsure if it'd really be worth it. I also planned on buying games a second time through Steam for the convenience of digital games, but never actually did it. This would be my first time. So please excuse my crazies.  ::)

Thanks again for the help and understanding.  ;D

Hey, we all have them now and then. (Right? It's not just me, is it?)

Nope, I think we are in the majority. If you are perfectly sane, you have something wrong with you.  :suffer:
