how do I pay for ferry?

  I'm at the beginning of Episode 1 and I'm already stuck! how do I pay for the ferry ride? I keep selecting the money bag but I don't know how to give it to Hassan, besides, he doesn't give any options for me to select yes or pay. He keeps going through the same dialogue of ...over my dead body, blah, blah, blah....
What do I do?
