Ok, there have been quite a few posts that I've read mentioning enjoyable music in games, but I haven't run across any threads specifically discussing this. Hence, I wanted to start one!

Recently, I bought and played Pokémon X D for GameCube - don't judge. There's a recurring character with his own custom music in the game, which I really dig, so here's the link:

(The music/battle starts at 1:10.)

Now it's your turn! Which video game music do you enjoy?

I like Kingdom Hearts' soundtrack. Everything from battle music to the song in the opening cinematic. Everything is so well tuned with what's going on in the game.

Simple and Clean

Sanctuary

Nobodies

1000 Heartless

Roxas

These are just a few, but there are tons of songs from the entire series that fit their respective scenarios perfectly.

From the RPG Planescape: Torment.  A story intensive game made my Bioware in the same style as games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.

I think a lot of people on this board would like it.  I highly recommend it.

Ah, one of my fav topics, videogames music!

Some of my fav pieces of music in games, and music that has helped inspire the soundtrack to The Silver Lining:

Gabriel Knight Series:

Gabriel Knight 3 Theme

Here's a funny story with this track: There's a bit in GK3 where they slow this theme down to a crawl, but it only lasts for 10 seconds or so. I was really in love with it and I asked a good friend of mine to compose a full piano song based on it. That was 12 years ago. Today, looking for this theme on youtube, I came across that piece. I have NO IDEA how it ended there, but I was extremely surprised and glad!

Here it is. There's a glitch on it about 50 seconds in, but it's a beautiful piano theme:

Gabriel Knight 3 Love Theme by Jesus Ritrovato

Gabriel Knight 2 Prologue

Nocturne intro

Nocturne full

The Xenosaga series:

When The Grief Lets You Go

Kos-Mos

Communication Breakdown

Sakura

Final Fantasy Series:

To Zanarkand

Atonement

Kingdom Hearts Series:

Another Side, Another Story

Who Am I?

There's tons more, I'll post more later :)

There are so many. From multiple genres. I can't pick.

Who Am I?

Those are some good ones. I never played 358/2 Days, so "Who Am I?" was a pleasant surprise. I might not like Xion's character, but her theme is pretty nice.

I'm curious, being a Square game, is that "Who Am I?" track similar in any way to the one from FF7?

I love all the music from Mega Man 1 and 2.  I could hum those tunes all day.

I still remember Snake Man's level from 3 - music and sound effects, as I'm battling the snake heads. Good times.

MusicallyInspired

Never got into MegaMan. Never had an NES until much later near the end of my childhood. So I don't have the nostalgic connection to it. Catchy tunes, though.

I like Mega Man franchise as well, but the series that stand out to me the most are the Mega Man X series, the Mega Man Legends series, and the short-lived Mega Man ZX series. While I will always love the classics, I do think it's about time for the series to reinvent itself (considering that the series is known for being reinvented quite often).  :-\

Mega Man ZX is still putting out games for the DS, isn't it?

I LOVE Mega Man Legends! Even the spinoff, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. Stinkin' Capcom just cancelled the MML3 project, which was progressing quickly!

Have you played Mega Man X Command Missions? I just won it on eBay. It looks cool. It's the other Mega Man RPG.

I would hope so, but I'm not sure. There was Mega Man ZX, and then Mega Man ZX Advent. Advent came out in 2007, a year after ZX was released. I think if there was any word on a continuation, something would have been said already. I wouldn't say the series is dead, but there's just no indication that it's still alive either. I would like to have another sequel though, cause those games were fun.

Yeah, Command Mission was pretty fun. I never finished it, but I liked the premise and the gameplay. Plus, all of the Mega Man heroes working together on the same team makes for an epic experience.  ;D
