Story idea
« on: November 07, 2012, 02:58:26 PM »
I had a wild little story idea, sort of a parody of KQ....Tentatively titled: "Attack of the Killer Giallo."
Giallo is the name for a subgenre of the Slasher film genre, and it also sounds, when pronounced, a lot like the name Jollo...The idea is to sort of take elements of the classical murder mystery (elements of Laura Bow, Unsolved Mysteries, etc), the Giallo genre, and KQ, with a strong nod to Agatha Christie and the "Killer Clown" cliche....

Basically, The Royal Family of Daventry, with Edgar in tow, plan a visit to see Alexander and Cassima in the Land of the Green Isles, to celebrate the birth of Alexander and Cassima's daughter. The celebration ensues and goes well , with people and prominent figures from all of the Kingdom's Isles as well as all previous KQ games coming to the celebration. Not longer after the celebration, people begin disappearing, some winding up dead, some winding up seemingly cursed with either bizarre afflictions, insanity, or are transformed by magic (IE being transformed into other creatures). It's up to The Royal Family to find out who's responsible. Setting would be in the Land of the Green Isles primarily, and the main protagonists would be Graham & Rosella and Alexander & Edgar....The ending(s) would include plot twists, and the guilty party, or perhaps parties, may not be whom one would expect.

Sounds great, although to do it right would be really difficult (not that you couldn't Perceval -- I believe in you!)

It'd be hard in the way writing any mystery is hard -- have to put enough clues in that a really good reader who's paying attention to every detail could figure it out but without making it obvious whodunit.

....this is why I don't write mysteries. Some people aren't good at it. Some people are. I do hope you give it a go Perceval, I'd love to read it.
