While we often encounter games with annoying glitches or cheap, obnoxious gameplay elements (I'm looking at you Shao Kahn  >:(), it is only fair to acknowledge that we often employ the same tactics if pushed to the edge.

One of the biggest I ever accomplished I did so unwittingly.  When MOE came out both I and a friend of mine got copies.  A few days later we were talking about the and he was complaining about he got himself stuck in the infamous gamebreaking "Feather of Truth" room.  At this point I was already in the swamp and I had no idea what he was talking about.  He asked me how I got the Sylph's blessing and that just made me more confused.

"Then how did you get the Hammer! It's guarding by those life draining spirits!"

"Oh I just kept using healing items until I was past them."

And that's when I learned all that babble Charon kept saying was actually important. :P

Anyone else have some good exploits?

Getting extra bottles in Ocarine of Time is definitely one of my favorites.  Nothing like 6 or 7 bottles with fairies in them to basically make it impossible to get a game over at any boss.

Pretty much anything that allows sequence breaking in any of the Metroid games.
I didn't know how much I really enjoyed the Sierra Adventure Games until I played them all over again 15 years later.

Item duplication can always be useful, especially in Demon's Souls.

Also, I know it's not technically an exploit, but PC gamers who use the console to control god mode, clipping, and spawning have a great advantage over gamers who play their games on a console.

Well, this isn't really an exploit, but it's still in the same vein. Propably something that the developers left in as a joke.

A warning to those who likes warnings, it involves virtual nudity with pixelization at strategic spots.
