Wow.  There is absolutely no comparison between the dorky-looking Bane from "Batman & Robin" and this guy.  This guy is intimidation personified.

Also, Anne Hathaway looks pretty hot, as usual.

Maybe I'm alone, but I am just not excited for this movie in the slightest.  There is absolutely no way they will be able to top Heath Ledger's Joker.  This movie will feel shallow and empty by comparison.  Mark my words.

I'm not sure that any villain in any movie will ever be able to cap that.

I'm not expecting Tom Hardy to trump Heath Ledger, nor do I really want him to.  If the movie is inferior to the Dark Knight but still superior to all of the other Batman films--including Batman Begins--I will consider myself satisfied.

I'm positive there will come a movie villain at some point that trumps the Joker, or at least comes close to it, but I doubt it will be any time in the next ten years at least.  Originally, Norman Bates was the undisputed Best Movie Villain Ever...then Darth Vader showed up on the big screen...then Hannibal Lecter...and now, the Joker.  It's like a cycle that only happens once every other decade.

I saw the trailer on Saturday, when I saw Sherlock Holmes.  Maybe I'm not understanding something, but it seems like more of a teaser to me than an actual trailer; I can't really deduce much from it!

I really like Catwoman. And I love Anne Hathaway, so... but yes, it's going to be very hard to top The Dark Knight, that's for sure.

I hope they top the Dark Knight but I'm certainly not holding my breath. Still, Nolan's shown he can do some interesting things with the license so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with.

I love Catwoman--I'm indifferent about Anne Hathaway as an actress.  For my money, she's not really attractive enough to be playing Catwoman, but eh--different strokes for different folks.

I've seen some movies where I found her attractive and some not so much.  And one (Alice in Wonderland) that she just shouldn't have been in period.

Though to be fair, that movie just shouldn't have existed, period.  But that's another topic all together.

I'm really looking forward to the movie.  Personally I think it will be pretty epic, though I also think that they're going to kill Batman in the end.  Bane is known for breaking backs and Nolan keeps saying this is it for the films and it would be the ultimate destination for the films.  Film one was the creation of Batman and his ideals.  Film two saw the destruction of Batman (in the PR department anyway) and his ideals (or at least the slipping of his ideals).  This third film could be about the destruction of Batman in his entirety.  Just my theory.

That said, the trailer is awesome for me, but that's mainly because the film was shot in the city where I live.  I actually went to grad school at Arkham Asylum according to that trailer!  There's just something really fulfilling and intensely engrossing about seeing a trailer or movie and realizing, "I KNOW THAT PLACE!"  You'd think it would be distracting, but it's really not.  It's a lot of fun.  Even for crappy movies.  Heck, I feel warm and fuzzy whenever I see a One for the Money trailer.  That film might look like an unfunny crapfest to me, but you know that scene where Heigl is talking to the prostitutes?  That's literally right down the street from my place.  I walk past there all the freaking time.  It's awesome.  But enough about me.

Dark Knight Rises.  Yeah.  Looking forward to it.

KatieHal

Ha! I'm actually kinda interested in seeing One for the Money. I read the first...11? 12? books in that series (when I finally accepted that yes, these are all exactly the same). But the characters were quite amusing, and Heigl can do comedy pretty well, IMO. So it looks like a fun way to spend an afternoon with some girlfriends, basically. :)

On topic: I don't think it'll be the destruction of Batman altogether. It is Dark Knight Rises, after all. And the classic trilogy format is that your middle act ends on the tragedy and hopeless note (Empire Strikes Back, anyone?), and in the third act is where the hero prevails. While Batman's story in general has tragedy woven into it, Batman himself isn't tragic in the sense of failing to defeat the bad guys.

I just hope that Catwoman actually has something of a costume in this one.  So far, all the pictures I've seen have just been maskless, costume-less Anne Hathaway.  It's not Catwoman if there's no f***ing Cat costume.

Cez

Wasn't there one in a motorcycle where she had some sort of costume on her?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was like a black leather outfit, but just goggles on the face--no real mask or cat ears.  :)

KatieHal

I know I saw some picture of her with ears on the costume somewhere...

Ah! Here it is. Blurry image, but there are ears!

Yeah, I saw that one.  I just think the costume is terrible.  It has absolutely no personality to it.

This bit of fan-fiction photoshop work would have been SO MUCH BETTER.

So...looks like Toy Fair inadvertently exposed Catwoman's whole costume.  Check out these images.  I still think it sucks balls--no personality whatsoever compared to pretty much every previous Catwoman costume ever seen.

But at least she has ears!  ;)

KatieHal

Hm. Not bad--certainly better than the Halle Berry atrocity!--but yeah, that fanmade one is better, I agree.

I would nerd-rage about the Halle Berry movie, but I remember nothing about it.  I guess I blocked it out.
