Don't worry, Hero. Testers can't claim responsibility for fixes, but they can't be held responsible for bugs, either. Only programmers can break stuff! :P

Well, as a word of advise, if you at any point want to get a job in writing or editing, make the effort. The effort you put in when you don't have to can speak volumes about a person.

For some reason I'm reminded of one of my favorite quotes from King of the Hill.

Hank to Bobby:  "You failed English?  Bobby, you SPEAK English!"

I second that.

I also agree with Katie - if you have an English major, then you shouldn't fall into the bad habit of lazy typing. Forums are a great place to practice, and the way you type can change the way you present yourself to people.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  I mean, if you played guitar, you wouldn't want to play it badly just because you were not playing at a concert, right?  Same principle.

Point taken however. I think we are getting off topic we should discuss  Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back. :)

Better, but I still have trouble believing you are an English major.  Try this:

"Point taken.  However, I think we are getting off topic; we should discuss Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back."

The Hero uses whatever grammar The Hero so desires.  If he were The Villain we'd be allowed to criticize.

Finally got around to playing these games.

Vohaul Strikes Back was entertaining, I thought.  I personally don't prefer the hotspot type of interface.  Also I did think the humor was a bit off in that it was very silly.  And please understand I don't mean that as an insult.  The silly type of humor is clearly what you were going for.  The trash Vohaul robot, the constant talking about caveball, the Penguin, the skiing, the fact that Roger clearly has nothing in the way of brainpower, it was all meant to be silly, goofy fun.  And that's fine, I guess, but it didn't quite match up with what Space Quest humor has been.  Space Quest isn't really a straight comedy.  It's comedic overtones in a deadly serious universe.  The Sariens, and evil scientist, pirates, Armageddon, a biological weapon, these are all dangerous, real things.  But they're just surrounded by borderline incompetent humanoids who get wrapped up in it all.  VSB has its goofy feel from beginning to end.  At no point did I feel that hamster wheel trash bucket Vohaul was a real threat.  Also, even though Roger has never been the brightest star in the generator, he at least had something going on upstairs.  He just took a bit longer to figure stuff out.  In VSB, he's downright brainless.  And yeah, it's funny at times, but it's not quite Roger.  But, in the end, it was still an entertaining game.  I enjoyed playing it.  Really, I think the one major complaint I have (other than the fact that I really don't care for the hotspot interface, as I said before) is that Roger just doesn't die in many cool ways.  Pretty much every death is Roger getting shot.  And, yeah, it's funny to see him get blown away.  But the fact is that Roger used to die in so many different, creative ways.  Sometimes completely out of nowhere (like the metal sheet in SQ3, or the pit or mushrooms in SQ2).  Getting Roger killed was often as entertaining as the game.  Here is was just a lot of gun violence.  I'd have liked to see much more deaths and fewer guns to facilitate it.

I also just finished Incinerations.  I still feel like it didn't quite get the Space Quest feel 100%, but it certainly got closer than VSB.  And I think that's because it took its universe much more seriously.  This was darker, yet it had the comedic overtones, just like Space Quest.  It should also be noted that on an action and visual level this game kicked copious amounts of ass.  Seriously, it was a blast to watch this game unfold and to play it.  The story seemed more cohesive and thought out, and it used Vohaul as more of a supporting character, choosing instead to develop the characters around Roger.  I thought that was a really good choice.  The characters seemed less like they were written just to spew jokes and more like they were complete characters.  Also, I want to go on record and say that I freaking love Doomtron.  Seriously, he needs his own spinoff.  I was honestly wishing that there was an option for a fourth ending where you ran off with Doomtron for further adventures rather than choosing one of the ladies or going on your lonesome.  I cannot stress this enough.  Doomtron is awesome.  I really did enjoy this game.  Again, the hotspot interface wasn't my favorite, and occasionally it felt slightly different than the original Space Quest, but I think it was a lot more successful than VSB, and again I think it's because it just took itself more seriously.  Plus the humor was a lot funnier.  Probably part of that is that silly humor just isn't my style, but if you're making jokes all the time, it loses its effect.  In Incinerations you got breaks instead of constant joke overload.  I do wish there were more deaths for Roger, but like I said, this game kicked so much ass that all the flaws are forgiven.

In the end, VSB was fun, but I don't think it has the replay factor that Incinerations has.  Incinerations was just awesome.  And it had Doomtron.  Have I mentioned how awesome Doomtron is yet?  Because he is.

EDIT: Speaking of the re-playability factor of Incinerations, I've been continually playing it, trying to get all the achievements and finally just got them.  That ending was epically awesome, particularly since getting all the points was not an easy thing to do.  But it was all worth it to see Junior do the Snoopy dance!  Oh, I also got a special ending by being a loser as well.  That was fun.  But not as fun as the best ending ever.  Really, the whole game was just great.
