Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce - Telephone

Hello, hello, baby;
You called? I can't hear a thing
I have got no service
in the club, you see, see.
Wha-Wha-Wwwwhat did you say?
Are you breaking up on me?
Sorry, I cannot hear you,
I'm kinda busy...

K-kinda busy
K-kinda busy
Sorry, I cannot hear you
I'm kinda busy

Just a second,
it's my favourite song they're gonna play
And I cannot text you with
a drink in my hand, eh…
You shoulda made some plans with me,
you knew that I was free.
And now you won't stop calling me;
I'm kinda busy

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…
Stop telephonin' me!
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…
I'm busy!
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…
Stop telephonin' me!
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…

Can call all you want,
but there's no one home,
and you're not gonna reach my telephone
Out in the club,
and I'm sippin' that bub'
and you're not gonna reach my telephone

Call when you want,
but there's no one home,
and you're not gonna reach my telephone
Out in the club,
and I'm sippin' that bub',
and you're not gonna reach my telephone

[Beyonce]:
Boy, the way you blowin' up my phone
won't make me leave no faster.
Put my coat on faster,
leave my girls no faster.
I shoulda left my phone at home,
'cause this is a disaster!
Callin' like a collector-
sorry, I cannot answer

Not that I don't like you,
I'm just at a party.
And I am sick and tired
of my phone b-rrr-eaking.
Sometimes I feel like
I live in Grand Central Station.
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls,
'cause I'll be dancin'...

'Cause I'll be dancin'
'Cause I'll be dancin'
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls, 'cause I'll be dancin'!

Stop callin', stop callin',
I don't wanna think anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin',
I don't wanna talk anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Stop callin', stop callin',
I don't wanna think anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin',
I don't wanna talk anymore!
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…
Stop telephonin' me!
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…
I'm busy!
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…
Stop telephonin' me!
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh…

Can call all you want,
but there's no one home,
you're not gonna reach my telephone!
'Cause I'm out in the club,
and I'm sippin' that bub',
and you're not gonna reach my telephone!

Call when you want,
but there's no one home,
and you're not gonna reach my telephone!
'Cause I'm out in the club,
and I'm sippin' that bub',
and you're not gonna reach my telephone!

My telephone!
M-m-my telephone!
'Cause I'm out in the club,
and I'm sippin' that bub',
and you're not gonna reach my telephone!

My telephone!
M-m-my telephone!
'Cause I'm out in the club,
and I'm sippin' that bub',
and you're not gonna reach my telephone!

We're sorry… We're sorry, the number you have reached is not in service at this time.
Please check the number, or try your call again

lol, yeah the video's a bit... weird.  Certainly not what I envision when hearing the song, but nonetheless, it's still pretty entertaining to watch. :P

Radioheadd - My Iron Lung

Faith you're driving me away
you do it everyday
you don't mean it but it hurts like hell
my brain says I'm receiving pain
a lack of oxygen from my life support
my iron lung

We're too young to fall asleep
too cynical to speak
we are losing it can't you tell?
we scratch our eternal itch
A twentieth century b****
and we are grateful for our iron lung

the headshrinkers
they want everything
my uncle Bill
my Belisha beacon

the headshrinkers
they want everything
my uncle Bill
my Belisha beacon

suck, suck your teenage thumb
toilet-trained and dumb
when the power runs out we'll just hum
this this is our new song
just like the last one
a total waste of time
my iron lung

the headshrinkers
they want everything
my uncle Bill
my Belisha beacon

the headshrinkers
they want everything
my uncle Bill
my Belisha beacon

and if you're frightened
you can be frightened
you can be it's okay

and if you're frightened
you can be frightened
you can be it's okay

the headshrinkers
they want everything
my uncle Bill
my Belisha beacon

the headshrinkers
they want everything
my uncle Bill
my Belisha beacon

I read a very long Da Vinci Code-esque analysis about how the video was all about illuminati mind control. :P Basically the telephone is her brain and she's refusing to answer it and trying to brainwash us all with her poisoned honey (music :P).

According to Wikipedia: "The main inspiration behind the song was Gaga's fear of suffocation. The lyrics portray the singer as preferring the dance floor, rather than answer her lover's phone calls. Gaga explained that the telephone addressed in the lyrics of the song, is in reality a person telling her to continue working harder."

On the same page, Lady Gaga herself says "Fear of suffocation—something that I have or fear is never being able to enjoy myself, [...] 'Cause I love my work so much, I find it really hard to go out and have a good time. [...] "I don't go to nightclubs, [...] You don't see pictures of me falling out of a club drunk. I don't go—and that's because I usually go and then, you know, a whiskey and a half into it, I got to get back to work."

It's always good to check with sources directly rather than rely on rumours.

Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish some one out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, aah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line, of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's f***** up and everything's all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, aah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah

I walk alone
I walk a...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams

Ahhh, I see.  Yeah, I love those too! XD  I actually find things like this very intriguing and inspiring.  Movies & TV shows with predictable plots are a little too boring for my taste.  I like the excitement of never quite knowing what to expect. :D  And now you know why I've always personally been against spoiling TSL's storyline for all these years too! :P

Definitely. :) I'm sure that some day we'll be able to look back at this entire Activision ordeal and just laugh. :P  Until then, there's plenty of music to fill that void, such as:

Alicia Keys - Karma

Weren't you the one that said, that you don't want me anymore?
And how you need your space, and give the keys back to your door?
And how I cried and tried and tried to make you stay with me
But still you said that love was gone, and that I had to leave

Now you, talkin' bout a family
Now you, sayin' I complete your dream
Now you, sayin' I'm your everything
You confusin' me
What you say to me
Don't play with me
Don't play with me

Cause what goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back

I remember when
I was sittin' home alone
Waitin' for you
Til 3 o'clock in the morn

And when you came home, you'd always have some sorry excuse
Half explainin' to me like I'm just some kind of a fool
I sacrifice the things I wanted to do things for you
But when it's time to do for me, you never come through

Now you, wanna be a bond of me (eh?)
Now you, have so much to say to me (hey)
Now you, wanna make time for me

What you do to me
You confusin' me
Don't play with me
Don't play with me

Cause what goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back

I remember when
I was sittin' home alone
Waitin' for you
Til 3 o'clock in the morn
Night after night
Knowin' something goin' on
Wasn't home befo' I be
Givva-givva gone
Lord knows it wasn't easy, believe me
Never thought you'd be the one that would deceive me
And never do wha' you was supposed to do
No need to hose me fool, cause I'm over you

Cause what goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down

Gotta stop tryin', to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
It's called Karma baby
And it goes around

What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me

This is true.
One of my promoter friends from NYC was delighted that she actually showed up to one of his parties, of course he was ecstatic to meet her and she wasn't even getting paid to be there.
However, she took the mic at one point in the night (at the request of several attendees) and addressed the crowd, briefly. Her main topic? Work. Record sales. :P Fortunately she ended by telling everyone to work it on the dancefloor and have a good time.
I heard unreliable rumors that she also worked on some lyrics and/or tried to choreograph a new dance while she was there. :P

Oh, as for the video... I don't know the accuracy of this analysis of the video, but it impressed her enough to Tweet about it: http://onlywordstoplaywith.blogspot.com/2010/03/lady-gagas-telephone-observations-and.html

Very interesting read! ;D  And yeah, I personally find Lady Gaga to be extremely inspiring.  The lyrics & melody of most of her songs, accompanied with her visual style & movements are often unpredictable and exciting every time! XD

There is like an infinite amount of inspiration you can derive from uncertainty, and that's what really makes life worth living for me. :)  Routine & structure is great and necessary to stay grounded, but sometimes you need that little boost of passion to take things to the next level. 8)

River - Joni 'itchell

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
But it don't snow here
It stays pretty green
I'm going to make a lot of money
Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I made my baby cry

He tried hard to help me
You know, he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty
Made me weak in the knees
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad
Now I've gone and lost the best baby
That I ever had
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I made my baby say goodbye

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on

Boyz II Men - A Song For Mama

You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life, yeah

There isn't anything
Or anyone that I can't be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side

You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You'll always be you will always be the girl
In my life for all time

Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

You're always down for me
Have always been around for me
Even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did

And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on

There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life

Mama, mama you know I love you
You know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

Never gonna go a day without you
Fills me up just thinking about you
And never go a day without my mama

Mama, mama you know I love you
You know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
You are the food to my soul
