I do like how GOG helps to make the games work on modern-built computers. That's what stands out to me. I have a copy of Gabriel Knight 3 on disc but I can't play it no matter how I install it. GOG can provide me a digital copy that is sure to work. Classy.

As long as we are singing GOG's praises everyone here should definitely check out the site.  A huge chunk of there catalog is 50% off and they're giving away Empire Earth until Wednesday.

They have several really amazing games added since the last time I looked.  I guess it's time to do a little Christmas shopping for MYSELF.

Having never played Quest for Glory, I am quite eager to start. I would like GOG.com to be the place that sells me the game. I like Gog, but I do have some suggestions of games they should add. A list is below:

1. Quest for Glory Series
2. Dreamfall
3. Myst IV: Revelation
4. Myst V: End of Ages
5. Monkey Island Series
6. Torrin's Passage
7. Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist
8. Maniac Mansion
9. Day of the Tentacle

That's all I can think of at the moment, but it'd be great if they could add those.

Well right now I think QFG is available on Abandonia, and they're are pretty good about not giving away games that are being sold.  I never encountered bugs in the earlier games, although the 3rd game amy have some and the 4th has a ton.

There is also a Sierra VGA remake of the original Quest for Glory and AGDI's faithful remake of the second installment if text parsers aren't your thing.

I know I saw Dreamfall on Steam if you don't mind the bit of DRM. There's even a bundle with The Longest Journey for 5 dollars more!

GoG needs to get on the ball and hound LucasArts some more to get more of their games on there. There's virtually absolutely nothing from LucasArts on that site yet.

agreed. its kind of amazing that they don't have any lucasarts games yet.

rosella, I already have the longest journey (courtesy of gog), so I don't need the bundle. as for steam, id rather use gog. they have to add it eventually, right? RIGHT?! in any event, I'm really hoping they can start adding this stuff. they seriously need it.

I love GOG. I still haven't jumped in their 50% off holiday sale, but I should pick up a couple of titles.

Their sale is ending on January 2nd, so I would jump in now. I picked up mine already. I had a whole carriage full of games I've been meaning to buy, and I'm glad I finally got my hands on them. In fact, I may just buy all my games from them at the end of every year so long as they continue this holiday sale. Is this the first or second holiday sale they have going on? I thought they ran a very similar (if not exactly the same) promotion this time last year, but my memory simply isn't what it used to be. Either way, I'd love to see gog expand it's catalog over the next year. Adding the highly requested titles and publishers would be a good start.

I'm picking up a few games from GoG right now, but I'm hesitant to get a lot of games because of the Steam sale this year. I'm hoping to just pick up the few D&D games that I've played before, but then there are games like Divine Divinity or Fallout that look good, but I don't know if they actually are. GoG is awesome, but I wish there was a way that I could get a better feel for the games before I purchase them. Otherwise, I'm just buying the old games that I already bought for my older computers. Where's the fun in that?

I'd definitely recommend Divine Divinity.  It's Diablo-like in gameplay but Elder Scrolls-like in explorability and customization.
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.

Aww!  You have the Sword of Hugging +3!  All of your attacks deal affectionate damage!

That's good to hear. For the time being, I might pass on Divine Divinity, but I'll save it for the next sale. It sounds really good. I got Divinity 2 off of Steam, and that's a fun game, though I know it plays completely different than the predecessors.

Now what about the Icewind Dale series? I remember playing the first one on my computer, but I bought it thinking it was in the same league as Baldur's Gate, just to find out that it was pure gameplay and it lacked an interesting story. I guess it's good for those who like the ruleset and want to check out how different kinds of parties would perform in the game, but when I had played it, a lot of the stuff went over my head. I haven't played Icewind Dale 2, so I can't say a whole lot about that one.
