I played the 3DS demo once super late last night.  Loved it.  Died about 20 minutes in but I'm totally buying this.  The visuals are hands-down the best I've seen in a 3DS game (OoT, you're still awesome, this game just does the 3D even better, sorry!).

It feels a lot like RE4 which is my favorite of the series.

RE4 is the game that KILLED the Resident Evil series for me, actually.

RE4 was a great game and a lot of fun, but it re-invented the formula SO much that it lost a lot of the flavor that made the original games great, in my opinion.  I felt like the game was so action oriented that it lost all of the tension and scare-factor of the original games.  Resident Evil has never been about run-and-gun action, and I really felt like that was what RE4 was all about.  RE5 was much worse though.  It was just a bad, bland action game through and through.  Yuck.

For my money, the best Resident Evil game ever made was Resident Evil 2--that game just really had it all.  The Gamecube REmake of Resident Evil 1 was also amazing, and is a close, CLOSE second.  The RE1 Remake also gets my vote for the drop dead scariest RE game.  Two words: Super Zombies.  *shudder*

Yeah I could have lived without some of the mechanics in RE4, what I really liked about it was mainly the controls.  I really dig the over-the-shoulder stuff for the camera and aiming.  I agree that a lot of the "scare" factor was gone from that game.  The only place that really had me on edge was the maze with the dogs.  I've been terrified of dogs in RE games ever since the first one.

I thought that RE4 played nicely using the Wii controls as well.

I've only ever played RE4, which I loved to pieces. I have the remake of RE1 for the Wii. I'll let you know what I think of it once I get through it one day.

The REmake is SO good.  So good.  The little touches of animation in the pre-rendered backgrounds were mind-blowing when the game first came out.  It still holds up as very pretty game.  Wish I could play it in HD though.

It's hard to shoot at zombies if your hair is in the way of your vision, but then again I quess it's just a matter of balance.

EVERYTHING about that character design is completely freakin' ridiculous and lowers my opinion of the people involved in designing it.

Yes thankfully she's not the main character or I would not be buying this game.  From what I understand she's in a brief cutscene and then playable in Mercenaries mode, but that's it.

Her outfit seems a little impractical, yes.  Somehow though, I have a hard time being irritated by it.  ;)

I might be able to tolerate it if her utterly ridiculous hairstyle wasn't so distracting.  It's the most obnoxious thing I've ever seen.

How much hairspray did she use? Her hair doesn't even move! :P

That outfit gives me the horn.  I don't think one should have the horn while killing zombies.  Or playing video games.

That's not hair, either.  That's her "Bio-Helmet".
