Yeah there's not any way to download "just" the first episode.  We made a number of enhancements to the engine (especially to how Graham walked / ran) so believe me you're better off not seeing that one in its original glory any more.  Each episode builds onto the previous ones so you don't really download each one as a totally separate game.

If you read wilco's response, he explained further why the first episode alone is not available, and very shortly after drusain posted the link for you.

We ask that our forum members treat each other with respect. There may have not been further explanation in the first post given in response to your question, but he was trying to help you out by providing the link.
