I have finally completed episode 2 :) however at the end of the credits when I click on return to main menu the game crashes :(, When I start up episode 3 I have no option to begin from episode 2 with all of my previous items... :(

Anything I can do to fix this?.. I was able to pick up the odd smiley face and some other items I'm assuming that you utilize in EP 3 but without being able to continue from the previous episode I will have to obtain them again.....I am very much hoping that there is a way to fix this?

If it helps, you can start Ep.3 without needing to worry about the smiley face (called a Suffer; it's an easter egg item and not actually of use in the game) or any other extra items. The game will always start you off each episode with the necessary items you'll need. For example, if you kept the gold lock in Ep. 2, Graham will automatically get rid of it at the beginning of Ep. 3 whether you keep it from Ep. 2 or start Ep. 3 from the main menu. The gold lock is unnecessary after Ep. 2.

;D ah thankyou :) that does help, I was needlessly worried that I would have to re-acquire all of my previous items I'd work so hard for.

So is there no way to continue a save from a previous episode? The manual says you can do it. Perhaps it was taken out because it was buggy (?)

It would be nice, because I've just started Episode 3 as well, and I'm getting annoyed that I'm having to replay all manner of conversations that I've already had in the previous episode.

Yeah that feature was removed with Episode 4's release as there was no particular benefit to it.  Sorry about it still being mentioned in the manual, I didn't catch that.

The conversation thing is the only thing I can really think of, but it is really frustrating going through things like swapping stories with the pawn shop owner (Huh, I just noticed how appropriate that is), twice just because it's still showing up. That and it means you can no longer collect all the suffers. :(

You never could. I don't remember for sure - it might have been possible to have the first two at the same time, but beyond that, they're among the things Graham "puts away for now."

Hmm. Was there any technical reason to remove it, or just because there was no benefit? I personally see a huge benefit -- not having to go through all those conversations again! Would there be a lot of effort to put it back? (I'm not sure if you're planning to patch TSL 1-4 again, assuming that you're going ahead with Ep 5 being stand-alone.)

Yes, there were a number of issues. As far as the conversations go, you don't really need to go through them again. The topics that are repeated from the previous episode are not essential.

It's more that it's hard to tell which conversations are old and which are new. You generally have to click through all of them to make sure there isn't something you haven't heard before.

But if there are issues migrating saves, then I understand.
