Ewwwww that orb thing. I ahve a different take on it. I think thats us viewing places where the seam between this and another universe is very thin and we're getting glimpses of light and environmental pressure etc. Yes I have been reading too much Phillip Pullman recently...

I just realised I never really posted in this thread!  :o  ;-D

Well, being someone that believes in science, facts, principles and logic, I don't believe in a lot of supernatural things, since you can usually find an explanation for them. :P  But as for unexplained things, I do think there is an answer to them, but we just haven't discovered it yet.  Without bringing religion into this, I'll just say I believe most answers (i.e. Why are we here?,  Are we alone in this universe?, etc) will be made clear when you die; but for the rest of us still living, we can only really speculate. 8)

I like science too but feel that it will always be lacking without having some kind of supernatural force to help back it up and motivate you to seize the day -- carpe diem
Thanks for adding to this thread, Neil.  I appreciate your input.

Lets try keep the religion talk to a minimum  :-X

One of the main unexplained thing I believe is about telekenisis and the power of the miiiinnnd (yeah I know we'e already had the whole 10% convo in this thread :P).

Carrie basically sums up my enitre belief the subject. Oh and Matilda of course  8)

I prefer to motivate myself, actually. ;)

I'm with Yonkey in the part that I think that everything that's currently unexplained will be explained eventually, using science and human ingenuity.

Even some of the things we can explain today are still awe-inspiring and amazing, so I don't feel it any less magical and intriguing to think of all things as being natural instead of supernatural.

I'm not too sure of that myself. What if some things can't be explained in a way the human mind can comprehend? we live in our minuscule corner of the universe, naming the physical forces and objects around us, studying and putting into formulas the way our world behaves, making up theories of how we came to be here and thinking that someday we'll have everything figured out.
But what if we're simply CAN'T figure it out? What if we can't precive the begining and cause of the universe the same way we can't precive anything past the 4th dimension? what if the dimensions & time themselves are only a way for us to precive very different things we can't comprehend, the same way an ant can't comprehend what a human is, even when it's walking on one?

Sure, we think to ourselves, we're much more evolved than the ant. We can think and imagine things beyond what we can see, hear and feel with our limited senses, and we can understand anything if you put it in small enough words. But what if it can't be put into small enough words? what if the human mind itself is inherently incapable of conceiving the true nature of the universe? what if it's beyond our notions of thought, time, space, dimensions, logic, cause & effect etc., the same way music, for instance, is beyond the mind the ant?

I really wonder about that sometimes :-X

(shrug) Well, look at it this way, if you like... regardless if we can understand it or not, I feel there's a "natural" explanation for everything. I'd like to think we are (or will be) smart enough to figure it all out one day, but even if we're not, I don't think there's anything stereotypically mystical/magical about the universe.

I think people are generally dumb.  Science will solve puzzles but there will always be more things to solve because new puzzles will come up and a supernatural force or being is the only way to explain everything no matter what you think, in my humble and small opinion.  :>

I always considered that a cop-out. :P Why not just be satisfied with attempting to study and explain the universe and accept that in this case it's the journey and the application of the journey's experience that matters and not the "final" goal, instead of just giving up and saying "Well, we can't explain it right now, so it's a supernatural phenomena, end of story."?

Plus, if *we* can't explain something, it doesn't make it supernatural. Too complicated for humans to understand, perhaps, but not supernatural.

I believe that eventually we will find the answers.  Less than 2000 years ago, no human understood 2 dimensions, let alone 4.  And nowadays, you learn about 3 dimensions in Grade 3 (that is, when children are able to understand the concept of conservation & volume).

There is no single human on this earth that knows and understands every single principles, theory or concept because of the sheer vast amount of information.  However, there is a medium in which humans can access this kind knowledge at any point in time: the Internet.  8)

So yeah, humans do have a limited amount of mind capacity, and I'm sure there are things in this world that no one understands right now, but I feel eventually someone will and eventually it will be taught to our children by an elementary or high school teacher.  ::)  Or more likely, it will be available from a few keystrokes at Google or its successor.  XD

I prefer the demi-god, Lipton. ;) Or rather, the demi-god of a much better brand of tea that I can't remember right now because I'm not at home to look in my cabinet. ;P

Oddly enough, I don't think there's *any* Starbucks cafes in Western MA! The first time I went to one was when I "helped" Katie buy coffee in NYC.

Peace & Luv, Liz

OMG can it be? Is there truely a place on earth where starbucks has not invaded??  ??? :o

I prefer Costa coffee to starbucks though, dunno if you get them in the US.
