Pi day
« on: March 12, 2012, 01:43:26 PM »
Pi day is coming (observed 3/14 @ 1:59). Does anyone have exciting plans? We're having pie (of course) at work, and there are some volunteers getting pie'd for charity.

I was thinking there should be an official pi(e) day - August 5 in the US, and May 8 elsewhere.

pi = 3.141592653589...
e = 2.718281828459...

pi(e) = 8.53973422267...

What do you think? :P

Unfortunately, though I am in fact a computer science student, I will not be celebrating Pi Day. Mathemetician I am not!

Happy pi day, everybody! It's just past pi time (3/14 @ 1:59), so it's time to go get some pie in the break room! :D

Happy Pi Day!  I believe I am celebrating with a slice of Oreo cream pie.  If only blackberries were in season, I'd have that pie, but I think Oreo cream is good too.

My vote is yes, but only if you eat precisely half. :P

I think it goes the other way. You should be eating two pizzas to make up for the fact that they're only half-pies.

You know what's sad? I totally forgot about yesterday being Pi Day until I was falling asleep last night. My last conscious thought was, "Aw crap, I forgot to wish everyone a happy Pi Day when I posted there yesterday!" :P

My reasoning is that if you aren't eating pie, but you're eating something circular, then you can eat pi of it, angle-wise. :P

Pie (actually just a plate of whipped cream) in the face.
Our VP said if the employees could raise more than $500, she would take a pie in the face. They raised ~$1250, so she got it twice. :P
My reasoning is that if you aren't eating pie, but you're eating something circular, then you can eat pi of it, angle-wise. :P

For Lily's Fund, a charity supporting Epilepsy Research. It seems appropriate, since our company sells EEG devices and software.
