To be "biased" is to favour one side more than another.  So instead of being objective, you become subjective and your opinion is influenced by some other person or thing.

Anyway, that's my definition of it.  You could probably search some online dictionary if you want the formal definition.  XD

AFAIK, you can be subjective and not biased. Besides, sure, your opinion is based on your interactions with other people (in person, in writing, talking, ...) but your bias is still your own, and not some other person or thing. ;-D

Well, I was extending the fact that everything one learns is by some sort of influence/bias/learning through parents/peers/role models/media.  It's a fact because a newborn baby isn't capable of becoming an average everyday citizen if raised in complete isolation.

So even though being subjective is "particular to a given person; personal" or "existing only within the experiencer's mind", in order to experience or have an opinion on anything, you must learn or be influenced by some external force.

For example, racists aren't born racist.  They develop this bias towards a specific ethnic group by having their values influenced/biased in some way.  Their opinions about the ethnic group are subjective, but the bias was learned from some other person.  8)

Yes, you form your bias from other people, but once you express your bias, it comes from within. Besides, I hear many racist biases (my father is one of them, unfortunately. :() but I'm still no racist myself.

Anyway, I  <3 Liz's bias.
