For those of you who need a link, here.

Looks a lot like KQ7 to me.

Also, I want to note how different GOG looks now that they're adding more modern games. It's cool that they are slowly reaching the caliber of Steam's library of games. Then GOG will be my one-stop shop for games.  ;D

GOG has been fantastic these past months.

Never played Torin's Passage, I only know it is a Sierra adventure, so I am sure it is good.

Before I buy it, what do fans like about it? I started to play the Witcher 2 and Diablo 3 so I am currently cautious of adding another fantasy title to the "must play" list.

Non sequitur. :P I've recently come to the realisation that Sierra games are hard, have puzzles which frequently make no sense and to which no hints are given and punish you by death for exploring and not reading the developer's mind. :P Compared to LucasArts games, I don't think they're that good anymore. :-\

See, I agree with all of those points factually... but there's something weird about dying in Sierra games... it can be strangely cathartic? Especially because they take that moment to crack a joke usually. And it's something I miss when playing Lucas Arts games... it could be argued that Sierra games embody the Dorfian Principle: Losing is Fun.

I enjoyed it. It's a little on the juvenile (i.e. seems aimed at a younger audience) side, but I enjoyed the humor.

Is it possible to block Deloria's post from my viewing? I wish not to read such blasphemy.

I dunno, Lucasarts had their fair share of nonsensical puzzles and moon logic. Besides, I wouldn't really consider death to be a punishment. Death messages are funny! :P
Some deaths are so obscure they're practically easter eggs.

You only get "punished" if you didn't save, and maybe it's just me, but I tend to save all the time in multiple slots even in adventure games without death, just in case I want to check a hint from earlier, or if I just want to experience a specific part of a game again.

Besides...it makes sense to die if you screw up doing something dangerous. :P
It can be kinda silly getting to the final confrontation with the villain, and he just stands there forever patiently until you figure out which item defeats him. ::)
Having a sense of danger adds to the tension.

Well, I didn't mean to put down Lucasarts in my post or anything. I like games from both companies. (Though I grew up mainly with Sierra games, so I'm a bit biased in that direction, I'll admit.)

Torin's Passage is simple and humorous. You can't die or run into a [insert expletive here] KQ-style dead end. The puzzles tend to make sense, too. It 's an overall enjoyable game - and that's coming from a guy who's getting tired of PnC adventure games.

By the way, Torin's Passage works beautifully in DOSBox from the original CD, so I don't see why people have been waiting for a GOG version; I've had it for quite some time.

I played the demo a ton when I was little.... never accomplished anything. I might get it from GoG though... see if I can accomplish anything with the full game!

Okay so maybe I was being diplomatic. :P

Although I can't help but point out Lucasarts also had some absurdly cruel puzzles.
