Now fully rested, Finn left the Dryad’s Glade and headed northeast as he’d been told. He’d soon came across a small area filled with large rocks and a couple bushes.
His eyes darted around- it was too quiet with too many places to hide. He felt that he was being watched from all sides. Cautiously, he drew his dagger and casted Zap on it. Grasping his dagger in one hand and holding a Flame Dart in the other, he asked softly, “Alright, who’s there? Come out and show yourself!”
He heard rustling behind him and whirled around. “C-come on,” he stammered. “I can take you on! S-stop -ahem!- Stop being cowards and face me like men!” Finn said, trying to bolster his confidence. He put more power into his Flame Dart, making it bigger and hotter, and raised his voice, “You don’t know who you’re messing with. I am Finn, son of Keenan Dillon the Wizard! I am a friend of the forest, and YOU are intruding!” the rustling got louder and he heard snorting from the bush. Finn let out a hearty laugh, “Ha! Scared, are you? Maybe I oughta just burn that bush- OOF!” Finn felt something hit him square in the back and he fell flat on his face, dropping his dagger and causing his Flame Dart to fizzle out.
“Ow! What was-“ WHACK! He was struck again, this time a nice hard rap on the head. Finn twisted his head around, and looked into the bright, wicked eyes of an ugly green skinned Goblin! Finn turned over onto his back, giving the little monster a kick to the jaw in the process. The Goblin snorted and staggered back. Finn, seeing his chance, quickly grabbed his dagger back and ignited another Flame Dart.
He threw the spell as quickly as he could, hitting the goblin square in the face before he could even react! The Goblin let out a squeal of pain. He thrust his dagger forward, but by that time the monster had recovered and quickly blocked it with their shield with a hollow ‘thunk!’
Finn ducked as the Goblin swung his mace at his face again. He heard a squeal from behind, and without looking, he cast another Flame Dart behind him hoping that it hit.
It apparently didn’t, because next thing Finn knew, he was tripped down on his back again by another Goblin -this time blue!- who proceeded to whack him hard on the head with their mace along with the green one bashing him in the guts over and over!
“Ow! OW! GET OFF’A ME!” Finn yelled, kicking the olive Goblin away. The navy one then proceeded to thwack his weapon right across Finn’s face! There was a ‘CRACK!’ and Finn screamed and clutched his nose! He jumped to his feet and, letting go of his heavily bleeding nose, cast a Flame Dart at Bluey, who managed to block it with his shield... for all the fat good it did, because it made of wood and burnt to ash within a few seconds. Finn then jumped onto Bluey and slashed away with his dagger. Bluey struggled under Finn’s grip, and squealed for help!
There came the rustles of the nearby bushes with angry snorts all around, and Finn found himself surrounded!
Gee, Finn thought. This sure looks familiar! Bluey noticed Finn was distracted and kicked him off again. Finn grunted and managed to roll and get back on his feet, and Bluey did the same with a growl and a snort.
With a twirl and point of his club at their adversary, the Goblins all rushed at the young Mage in a flurry of blue and green.
Finn stabbed and sliced his dagger all around, knocking a few of the creatures down for the count. His hands lit up with Flame Darts and he threw them everywhere as quickly as he could, but as soon as he’d gotten a couple down in the dirt, two more took their place ever stronger!
