Will the 2006 Vivendi KQ Collection work on Windows Vista?

Aw man, MI beat me to it.

Is anyone else severely disappointed that the 2006 rerelease of King's Quest didn't add anything to it besides the games themselves? The 1997 release was jammed full of so much, I didn't even get a chance to play them all! But the 2006 release was like, "You asked for the games, here they are. Extras? Psh, no freaking way!" ::)

They didn't even include the original KQ1 (Blasphemy much?) or Mask of Eternity, which, despite being not really a KQ game, is still the only one I haven't played. ::)

The best part is that the manual was clearly from the 1997 release. They just took all of the cool stuff out. :P

Well, I still have my original manual from 1997. I know the cool stuff still exists! XD

Yeah, yeah... you probably just bought the manual from eBay.  We know what you're about, Haids - the image. :P
I know because I had to buy my Mask of Eternity manual from eBay (since the brand new DVD-case-cardboard-box-wannabe didn't include a manual). It's blasphemy to even own a physical copy of MoE, but I just haven't found a good Sierra-reminiscing source (that needs it) to donate it to, yet. :P

I've got the same collection from 97. Along with the same SQ Collector's Edition and the SWAT Career Pack (all 4 adventures, plus first SWATs).

Hold on, I'm confused. Did you buy a used copy of MoE off of ebay and they said it was new in box?

I knew I had your number. :P

I bought the game in a DVD case brand new.  The manual I bought used to complete the game-and-manual set.

Ohhhhhhh. That makes sense. ;D

I've never played Mask of Eternity before, like Rosella. I suppose I could probably download/buy it if I was really that curious, but I'm really not. I know the basic storyline thanks to all my wonderful Questers here, so if all else failed I could watch a LP of it. :P

Has anyone actually finished an LP of MoE?  When I've looked on YouTube I haven't been able to find one.  NO ONE on Longplays.org wants to touch it.  :suffer:  Although there are some other adventure games on there.  (That's the only way I would put up with TellTale's BttF... and I still skipped slow parts in the video.)

Aardvark4Lunch made 2 or 3 parts and dropped it, and I've seen other incomplete playthroughs of MoE.  If Enchantermon can ever get the time and situation to play it through, I'd recommend watching that version, Haids.  The game really is a different experience for those who've only played the main KQ games (1-6, and 7... I guess).  I like 7, but I don't consider it so much Cannon as the earlier games - it's got a real Disney-meets-Harvey & Edna: The Break Out feel to it.

I watched the Let's Play found here, and I thought it was very good. That one is complete. XD

Incidentally, I was wondering why the username Nidoking sounded so familiar. I guess my answer's in that link. XD

I always felt the 1994 Collection was the best because it had so many extras--All those videos and things about the history of the KQ series, the interviews with Ken and Roberta, the preview of KQ7, etc. And it had a really cool box too, with King Graham on the cover--it looked very regal, no pun intended. The '97 Collection however did offer some really great, old games of Roberta's as extras along with the preview of KQ8, which was cool in and of itself. But then again Sierra itself was cool and always tended to have the fans in mind.

The extras were amazing. Seeing the programmers and artists actually doing the behind-the-scenes work is really interesting and fun. It's stuff like that that I wish they had included in the 2006 release, but hey. Vivendi. ::)

Thanks for the link, Rosella.  I'll check out the site more.

Nidoking's cool.  I'm surprised they never evolved it.

Heh, I'm an accomplished Pokemaster, so I knew why the word sounded familiar, but I was also familiar with someone using it as a moniker and that's what I couldn't place. XD

Aren't all those extras in the 97 collection as well? I really felt that was the ultimate King's Quest all-inclusive collection right there.
