The guys that did that game also did The Whispered World (which I'm playing right now). I like how they approach the adventure genre, but if this game is anything like The Whispered World, I'd be wary about the characters and setting. I was put off by TWW's main protagonist, Sadwick. He's a real downer. But since The Dark Eye was already a franchise prior to this game's release, the characters and the setting may not be as badly portrayed. Also, since the best games that the adventure genre has to offer are free or dirt cheap, I'd be concerned about chucking $30 at a game that "might" be disappointing.

Other than that, I'm as much in the dark as you are regarding this title. But still intrigued with its potential. The screenshots show great promise.

I recently acquired The Whispered World (for next to nothing :)) and I hear that Sadwick is a bit of a downer.  I haven't played it yet, but I'm not too worried... I recently played through the English translation of Tales of Innocence (NDS) and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Wii).  If I can handle ToI, then ToS:DotNW, I doubt I'll be bothered too much by Sadwick.   I'm hoping TWW's story will be as good as I've heard.  TWW's screenshots look beautiful, as do those of The Dark Eye.

I agree with you about the appearance of the new game.  It's definitely promising.  If I just wait a year or so, The Dark Eye will probably sell for a great deal from Amazon, too.

I enjoyed TWW. Sure, Sadwick's a bit melodramatic, but that's just who he is - a depressed clown. Plus, I really liked the ending.

Haven't finished it yet, but I still like Sadwick's character despite all of the drama. But even for a clown, he's far too depressed for a kid. But the world is what is very interesting. So far, I want to know more about this world and why Sadwick is linked to the world's destruction. A very interesting premise.

Oh, Emil was the worst. The only time I liked his character is when he became Ratatosk. When he became that timid, naive kid is when I hated him with a passion. Haven't played Innocence yet. But when it is released for the Vita, I will play it then (assuming it is localized). Don't know much about Innocence's characters, so I can't comment.  :-\

The main character of Tales of Innocence was a PERFECT preparatory character to deal with Emil.  Emil was worse, but don't expect a fun time with ToI's lead, either.  The characters are nearly identical... it's odd to play one after the other - NDS to Wii with the same character.   Emil made me feel like Sebastian the Crab: "KISS THE GIRL!!!"  :wall:

I loved their improved take on Pokémon in Dawn of the New World.  How many games let you permanently evolve or unevolve monsters to suit your needs?!  But the Ogres looked like a ripoff of Blanka, which really messed with my mind when searching the ruins of the Human Ranch. At that time, I didn't know you could do anything to actually make pacts... I thought the whole process was a crapshoot.

Good times, good times.  I just finished the NDS releases of the Dragon Quest games, and am not sure which way I'm going next.  I should reinstall So Blonde in French, for study purposes.  Although... The Whispered World has been my desire for about as long.  Hmmm... I would like a relaxing gaming experience again.  Maybe I'll start The Whispered World after I finish my final project with DQIX. (It's not necessary, but it'll be cool to have all the codes up for those who need them.)

So... I guess this has nothing to do with The Dark Eye, the claymation Edgar Allen Poe-inspired adventure game featuring the voice of William S. Burroughs?

It's totally, totally brilliant by the way. And... weird. Really, really weird.

This game?

Usually when I think of claymation games, I think of The Neverhood or Super Mario RPG (SNES).  This one looks better-made than either of those.  Of course, there's also Clay Fighter. :-X

Oh yes, that's the one. Isn't it fantastically odd? :D

And you play through some excellent Poe tales to boot: The Cask of Amontillado, Berenice, and the Telltale Heart :D

"It was the beating... OF HIS HIDEOUS HEART!!!"

Yeah, I'm a massive Poe fan. I revised and planned to write about Poe in my finals this year. God only knows what the examiners would have thought of that. XD As it turned out, I wrote about Lovecraft, who they will like EVEN LESS :D

Also, Poe wrote lots of non-horror stories! But everybody forgets about them. "Diddling" is massive fun: he basically catalogues all the confidence tricks he can think of. And "The balloon hoax" was a story he wrote for a newspaper which claimed that somebody had crossed the atlantic in a hot air balloon in three days; it caused the paper to sell out (Poe had trouble getting a copy several times) and when he claimed that he'd actually made it up, everyone said he must be lying.
