Double-header today. Last week I was absent; in the wilderness for a week of church camp, so to make up for it, I've got two videos for you. The first, Episode 19, is still processing, but nonetheless is available for viewing now. The second, Episode 20, is currently uploading. YouTube doesn't always accurately predict completion times, so all I can offer is a rough guess of about two hours from now before it, too, will be available.

The reason I'm posting this now and not waiting until the upload is complete is that I need to head to bed so I can return to work tomorrow. I've been fighting off a head cold w/fever since yesterday and need to be in as good a shape as I can be, which means getting as much sleep as possible.

Hopefully, this sickness will be gone by the weekend and I will be able to record more, but we'll have to wait and see. As it is, my voice sounds terrible and I'm coughing far too much to even attempt a session. I'll keep you all updated.

So Episode 26 is up...not sure what it's final destiny will be, though. Almost as soon as it was posted, it was muted by SME; apparently at one point there was enough background music that was not obscured enough by my voice or the sound effects in the game that it was flagged as containing copyrighted content. Several of the Lego Star Wars videos have been flagged, but this is the only one that actually got muted for it.

I've used YouTube's process of "removing the copyrighted music" just to see how it works and how badly the rest of the audio is butchered in the process. It's currently in that process, but in the meantime it's been unmuted and should be viewable, so check it out while you have the chance, because I'm not sure what the final product will sound like.

YouTube has been rather Draconic with this sort of stuff.

that's why if I do start doing LPs I mighr just focus on old games whose parents companies either don't exist or don't care about the original games

Well, I submitted a dispute with YouTube. I don't know how the music removal process worked out because the video was muted again because of the music in a different section of the video. So at that point, I just went ahead and sent the dispute in. I believe what I'm doing constitutes fair use, so we'll see. In the meantime, I'm going to continue to upload videos; hopefully I won't have this problem again.

Thanks. My dispute has vanished from the Video Manager without any word from YouTube and in its place is another claim on the music in a different section than the previous two claims. Might just submit it again to see what happens; the whole claim process is automated anyway.

Okay, so Episode 27 is up. Once again, it was muted. Once again, I have disputed this. As of this posting, the sound in the video has been restored, so get to it while the getting is good.
I'm going to at least continue with these videos until I reach the end of the game. If the situation hasn't improved by then, I'm going to stop there; my original plan was to play more games in parallel as I recorded me getting 100% in Lego Star Wars (so that anyone who didn't care about the 100% wouldn't be left hanging for a while), but I'm going to ditch the 100% thing if this claim business keeps up.

We'll probably be going to System Shock next. It's a DOS shooter from back in '94 that birthed System Shock 2 and, by extension, the BioShock series. I've been working on getting it set up this afternoon. It doesn't play well with Fraps, and after the Camtasia/Cat Mario fiasco, I don't trust Camtasia's recorder, so I bought Bandicam and will be using that.

Look's like my latest video, after two disputes, is being left alone now, so I'm thinking I just have to keep disputing until it goes away. Normally, I'd think such a thing would be trying the patience of the Copyright Police, but from my understanding of the concept of Fair Use, I have a pretty solid foundation.
That being said, I'm going to go ahead and start System Shock anyway and run both in parallel. SS should have been uploaded long ago, but it got stuck uploading and I was away from my computer for several hours after starting it. I've restarted the upload and it should be done sometime this morning.

Hopefully, anyway. My connection is fairly shoddy.
