I found out the Forum bug

So as some of you may know I had posts fail and lose a lot of speach.

It took a while but I found out what was doing it.

the - key breaks the post if it used three times in a row on its own line

That is so weird! It sounds like it's a bug in the forum software.

Yeah, It would also explain why only I would get that bug. I like to use "---" to seperate sections of my post that are different then the others.

Yeah, that's what I got, too. I searched for the error text, and it sounds like other people have come across the same issue in forum software. It also sounded like there may be other character combinations that have the same effect. Aren't software bugs fun?

Yep especially when they kill very long and detailed posts that took around an hour to write.

You could hit the back button, refresh the page and copy the post.

Bizarre. o_O Might be something to do with MySQL databases...

Perhaps because we're not using UTF-8 for the database? Such a conversion would take quite a while to run though...

The things I've read suggest it might have to do with Apache mod_security rejecting what it thinks may be attempted attacks (SQL injection, etc.).
