No spoilers though, please. I have a feeling that them bringing the previous leaders back was an attempt to sort of finalize the franchise in a way.
All that I'll say then is that from the way it ended, it gave me the feeling that they're done. But it really could go either way.

As disappointing as that is, it's also somewhat of good news to hear. I'd rather they end on a good note than to continue going like pokemon or other anime series.

The idea is true, yes, though I personally wish they wouldn't end on Xros Wars II. I felt like it was kind of weak overall, even though the end was mostly awesome. Definitely not as good as the first two seasons of Xros Wars, imo.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Well, deep down I want more digimon in general. Considering I haven't seen all of Xros Wars yet, I can't really comment on how good or bad the ending was. I'm probably just going to catch the dub anyway. I've always preferred dubs over subs because its easier for my brain to understand what's going on.

I generally prefer subs just because of the crazy edits and weird dialogue that is sometimes created by the English dubbers. But I don't have anything against dubs, either. At least it makes it more accessible.

Ill admit, most dubs aren't that great, but they've gotten better at them in recent years. The problem for me is that my brain can't read and watch TV at the same time. When a manga is available too, I sometime choose that, but it's not always an option, like with digimon.

Of course, it also depends on the audience. Shows aimed at an older demographic usually seem to have more effort put into their dubs than others.

That's a good point. Based on the trailer, the dub isn't looking so great. Then again, it's a marketing trailer and not an actual trailer. I'll probably watch the dub for convenience sake, but I don't expect great things from it. I'm already disliking the unecessary name changes and the voices.

Definitely not liking the names. That was just unnecessary. Like I may have said before, I'll give them Zenjiro. That one is a little awkward. But Taiki? Akari? Really? C'mon. It's almost as silly as whoever had the bright idea to rename Wallace from The Golden Digimentals to Willis.

I think Shoutmon's voice will grow on me. They tried to mimic the Japanese style, it seems, and they didn't do a bad job. I'm not crazy about Taiki's, though. The jury is still out on Akari; I'll have to hear more of her. And I'm trying to steel myself for Zenjiro; I have a feeling that his voice is going to be spectacularly bad.

Especially considering they kept the names for some of the other characters in previous series. Takato wasn't changed at all I don't believe. I get the idea behind changing the names, which is making the run accessible to kids, but I don't think they needed to change the names, especially not as drastically as they did. And yeah, the voice of shoutmon seems to be a strong point. I like that they tried to mimic the japanese version as much as possible.

Takato and Takuya they mostly left alone (they changed the pronunciation). Koichi from Frontier was kept as well. They sort of kept Yoshino in Data Squad, but referred to her mostly as Yoshi, iirc.

The pronunciation was changed? I was unaware of that. Either way, I was glad they decided to keep the original Japanese names for the most part. Like I said, the changes in Xros Wars are a little irritating.,

Yeah. Japanese: TA-ka-to, TA-ku-ya. English: Ta-KA-to, Ta-KU-ya. They just transferred the syllable emphasis.

Oh. Well it seems like it's a pretty minor change. I think I can live with something like that.

Yeah, I was okay with that too. I saw some people explode with anger over it, but the names work better with English pronunciation that way.

And, season two is now available for pre-order. I can't wait until season 3 comes out; that's the season I loved more than anything. What is everyone else's favorite season, and why?

#35
Tamers is still my favorite season, with Xros Wars following closely behind. The way the relationships were built and the character growth, plus the portrayal of evolution and the Digital World just seemed a lot more realistic and relatable. Definitely a high point of the series as a whole.

So I got my Season 1 box set today. It's.....interesting. I haven't watched any of the episodes yet. They spared much expense on the box, but it has a nice slipcover, the artwork is nice, if a little generic (and Kari-less, blah), and at least it uses proper plastic spindles unlock the paper sleeves some companies have used *cough*Mill Creek Entertainment*cough*.

The really interesting part is the booklet. It goes over basic characteristics of all 8 Chosen and their Digimon + evolutions. But what's weird is that they can't seem to make up their minds whether they're referring to the English or Japanese version of the show.
For example, they list Tai's name as "Tai/Taichi Yagami." The English dub acknowledges that his full first name is Taichi, but (for some unknown reason) they changed his last name to Kamiya. They also misspelled Koushiro and Jyou (Koshiro and Jo respectively).
Furthermore, the attacks of the Digimon are listed strangely. For some, like Agumon, they only list the Japanese attack (Baby Flame) and not the English one (Pepper Breath). For others, like Gabumon, they only list the English attack (Blue Blaster). On others, like Greymon, they list both (Nova Blast, English, and Mega Flame, Japanese, are the same thing).
The strangest thing of all (though pretty neat), is that they included English lyrics on the back of the booklet to the three Japanese songs featured in the show, despite those songs never playing once in the English dub (strangely, they only included lyrics for the TV edit of Butterfly).

Anyway, I'm still grateful of course to have this, even with its several oddities. Makes me wonder what Adventure 02's set will look like.

I got my DVD set the other week, I just haven't had time to watch any of the episodes yet, or even look at it. Been busy with work lol. honestly, I'm just happy to have a proper DVD release that has all the episodes from season 1, and not a half-assed disney "volume" release. Tamers is my favorite season as well, but I cant speak much for Xros Wars. I only got up to like episode 6 in subs, so I'm waiting for the dub at this point. From what little I had seen of it, it was definitely giving Tamers a run for it's money.
