A zombie movie that looks cool and funny?

Yeah, so when I was seeing The Hobbit, there was a trailer for Warm Bodies, which is about a zombie who falls in love with a human girl, and is slowly cured through loving this girl (or something like that). the trailer looked like something i'd enjoy; what does everyone else think? Funny? stupid? weird?

See, I absolutely detest Zombie movies, video games, etc.  Basically anything to do with the genre I feel is lame, over-exposed and played out.  (This goes for freaking vampires as well, ugh.)  But this movie looks great... takes several genres and spins it on it's head.  I'd see this film.

Generally I hate zombies too, but like I said, when they break the traditional mold, I'm totally interested. I like seeing a fresh spin on an established thing. Seeing a fresh take on zombie movies is great.

The guy reminds me of Gerard Way just enough to remind me how much of a crush I had on Gerard Way back in middle school.

Really, Bt?  See, when I saw this trailer, I instantly thought "Oh great, they're now doing to the zombie flick what Twilight did to vampire movies."  This looks like some film executive said "Zombies + teenybopper romance = $$$$!!"  Still, the fact that they're taking what seems to be a self-aware comedic take on it could save it.  I think it's walking a fine line though.

KatieHal

To put a romance angle on a zombie story is kind of new--generally, the romance in those has to be between survivors only, otherwise you're dealing with some really icky implications. Sure, vampires are technically dead too, but they lack the cannibalism and rotting issues that zombies bring with them. So to see that someone figured out a fun way to navigate that is neat. :)

The lead actor, incidentally, is the guy who played a young Hank McCoy/Beast in the X-Men: First Class movie.

You know, between the sexy vampires and werewolves from Twilight and the sexy aliens from The Host, it was only a matter of time before a movie came out with sexy zombies. At least they refrained from titling it "Love Never Dies."

Who else is holding out for a movie with sexy mummies?
I have no mouth, and I must scream.

dark-daventry

You know, they'll probably use that in one of they posters for the movie lol. As for sexy mummies, I'm sure that will be coming eventually. Give it time, and I'm sure someone will come up with it. It's bound to happen. It's the nature of the universe.

"Warm Bodies" is based on a book of the same title. actually :)

Well, The Mummy sort of did the sexy mummies thing already. But I've no doubt there are YA books with such out there already.

Yeah, no - this film has a sarcastic and self aware tone that I like.  It's not a straight romance - it's played for laughs and it's played against convention.  That's what I dig.

I was not aware this was based off a book... I think a trip to Barnes and Noble may be in order...

Fair enough.  The humor could end up being the saving grace.  And I do like the actor that's playing his "best friend."  Forget his name though.

Vampires can be cannibalistic. :P And yes, this does look like a better love story than Twilight. :P

Well, cannabilistic in the actual eating of the flesh.

Also, "poxiest"? Is that a British thing? It sounds like it would be.
