Hi all! I think I found the last of the rogue colors. There are a couple technical issues that we are working on server-side (related to posting problems), so please be patient on those. Namely, you can't post 3 dashes in a row in a post.

Anyways, I figured we needed a new poll and I want to know what you think! Do you like the new forums? Is there anything I missed in the layout? Any suggestions or features you'd like to see added? Say and I want to know!

I said "needs more cowbell" but that's just because I'm greedy for fancy features. :P Would like the Recent Posts filter-y thing and other shiny objects if anyone else thinks of any.

I do like the forum as is though and would be fine with it just like this. Just greedy for newer things too. :P

Filter-y thing? XD You do know you can click on Unread Posts on any category on the main page and it'll only show you the unread posts for that category, right? It's a new feature of SMF 2~

This is a minor thing that bothers me a bit, but when you mark all posts as unread, it takes you to the recent unread posts page and not the all unread posts page, where I came from. :P

I like them, but I had to vote "Needs more cowbell" because it was there. :P

Yeah, but that's different. :P *is very particular; stamps foot petulantly* That only displays the list of threads with unread posts in them, so I have to click on them each in turn. If it displayed the posts, it would be closer to what I'm saying. :P

Basically, I think Recent Posts is the most convenient way to keep up with the forum, but it starts to become less convenient as the Recent Posts stream gets clogged up with Tech Support posts and things that while maybe not bad or even uninteresting are from areas of the forum that the user has no interest in or has no interest in at the moment.

Hrmm... did a quick experiment... from the html, it looks like the posts get grouped by topic and topics get grouped by board, but the actual html path to a given post doesn't include the board info... That might explain why this tool doesn't exist... *shrugs*

Ah, I see. So this would be more like a filtered RSS feed organization on posts instead of threads. ;) There might be a mod out there but it's not something I'd feel comfortable coding on my own because it sounds a bit TOO touch-feely with the code.

Yeah, I think you'd have to change the way the code handles the meta-data of where a post is and without looking in the code/forum, I wouldn't know what that would take. :-\ (could mean some AWFUL database update or something *shudders* :o)

Nah, likely it would just require the same mod I did for "show all unread posts" to show categories. I just have *no* clue how you're currently accessing unread posts, I don't know where that feature is. Manual search?

Also did you know you can do board specific searches? It's troo! The search field automatically limits itself to board or thread depending on where you are in the forum.

but aww man.. if we could have something like the "choose a board to search in" but for recent posts... like "choose a board to read in" ... THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!

I'm a bit late to the party, but I saw you were using a different kind of quote box a few weeks ago. It was white and had bigger text. I've often thought that the quote text is kind of tiny and hard to read, so I kind of liked that? Sorry I didn't say anything back when it was on the site!

I could easily change out the spoiler style, but I'd have to put it up to a vote to see what people prefer. I was just trying to keep this as close to the original forums as possible. :)

Ah, good thinking. I guess I was always a bit annoyed by how small the quote text was and saw this as an opportunity to maybe change that. :)

Worst case, you can always increase the browser zoom on the forums. ;)
