« on: November 22, 2013, 02:52:47 PM »
I hope i find some informations here does someone know why the never would be more games to come out like for shivers and phantasmagoria? The produces made for each only 2 games, and thats about it but why?look at other sierraa games the produces for space quest, leisure suit larry and many others  a long row to play for the fans but why not for shivers or phantasmagoria?
its kind of sad both games were great and yeas i own phantasmagoria shivers and harvest of souls but i always wished for more games to come from that series.
Would you like to see a new phantasmagoria 3 or shivers 3?

I think it's pretty safe to say that Phantasmagoria 2 effectively killed any chances of the franchise continuing. I know that although they considered making a Space Quest 7 after Space Quest 6 became regarded as okay but not great, and a ninth King's Quest that would've been even more unfaithful to the rest of the series than Mask...but I'm not sure if they even wanted to make a third Phantasmagoria. Does anyone know if they even considered it?
I have no mouth, and I must scream.

Late franchises. Most of the ones with the high number of sequels started in the early or mid 80s. Phantasmagoria and Shivers came in 1995. Between 1995 and 1999 when the big layoffs happened, there were only one Space Quest, one Larry, one King's Quest, two SWATs (aka Police Quest spin off), One Quest for Glory and two Gabriel Knights.

So, one sequel per Phantasmagoria and Shivers sounds normal for that time period.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the initial vision Roberta Williams had for Phantasmagoria was to create a series of games, each unrelated, that looked at one aspect of horror. For instance, the first game was standard horror of fighting demons and the second game was the horror of bad acting, um, I mean psychological horror of the protagonist questioning his own sanity.

Edit:
Here's an interview from 1997 with Roberta Williams that discusses many of her games, and as far as Phantasmagoria 3 was mentioned, Roberta said that she would consider it if there was enough groundswell; however this was in the waning days of Sierra. So I imagine that it just never came to pass.

But she also said she would consider it, which means if enough fans stands up for she might would consider making a new phantasmagoria 3 she better keep her word, for as you can see on facebook i guess most people are dissapointed she not keeping her word.

Thats what i found to shivers 3:

It seems like some people tried to make Shivers3 but dont have enough people that support them..to bad.

That was over 15 years ago. Sometimes things just don't go the way people want.

Or wish for i think it would only be fair if theire would more games about come sind many other games from sierra had many long Series as Police Quest Kings Quest, Space Quest, Leisury Suit Larry if a Game is succesfull and good made why not make more of it?
There are many good Horror Games like Scratches but i never saw such good horror Adventures like Phantasmagoria and Shivers is just great.
Filled with Mystery and and a deep story that creeps you out.
Its not getting want people want, but belong really wish for more of it.
Thats a big difference. ;)

Late franchises.

There is no difference. When Sierra closed the doors in 1999, it became a matter of want.
