Super Metroid isn't on Genesis.  Game over.

I have to second this.

Also Harvest Moon and Super Mario RPG. Easily three of my all-time favorites. Harvest Moon is actually coming to the 3DS eShop sometime soon and I'm totally stoked.

As much as I love Super Metroid, shadowrun for the Genesis is my favourite 16 bit game of all time.

as for the SNES' Harvest Moon... I honestly never cared for it, I feel it aged poorly, especially when compared to the GBA one.

so for me, Genesis is the best console

Bludshot

The Genesis is a crappy console compared to the SNES, and the controller is terrible.

Well, if I had a choice, then I would pick Jacob. Either that or nobody, or Charlie.

Jafar

They're both great consoles with amazing games. But SNES has more of my favorite games, so I'd lean towards that.

Both consoles are also too good to be compared to Bella's bozo boyfriends. If anything, Edward is a Game.com while Jacob's an N-Gage. ::)

And who knows what else?

Let me just contribute by saying that I absolutely despise both consoles with the fury of a thousand suns.

No, I don't have any real reason to; I'm just having an off day.

I did enjoy both, but Lamb is right: Super Metroid is not on Genesis.

SNES wins.  But I'll always love both.

There's no point in me taking either side. I've never owned either.

You were probably born after they came out!!!

Hahaha...let's have a new question: How many were born during or after the Super Nintendo/Genesis era?

My preference of SNES probably also at least partly stems from the fact that I never personally owned a Genesis. Had several friends with them and I really enjoyed some of the titles, but the SNES was the first console I ever bought and owned with my own money so there's probably some nostalgia factoring in there.

And it has Super Metroid. And Link to the Past.

Ironically, I never owned either of those consoles, but my first gaming console (Computer and GBA aside) was an NES. And the reason I wanted one of those? Because all my best friends had one! Literally the only people who had an SNES PLUS an N64 (which I wanted so badly but I never got one because they were/are REALLY expensive!) I was born in '93.

nuh-huh, Sega Genesis is awesome!

Unless you realllly like Sonic.  The SNES is better hardware wise.

And just in case you didn't see it the first times, Super Metroid!

Both systems had great games and obviously if you just love a specific game or series of games on one system that might drive you to pick that system over the other.  From an overall perspective though, I'd have to say that the SNES had the superior hardware and library of games in my opinion.  You have to feel somewhat bad for Sega though, they made some ahead of their time hardware with the Dreamcast and the Sega CD but just didn't quite hit the right time frame to put them on the market.
