When they finally showed her at the end of this season, I think she was finally done with the show.  Frankly, I don't care what happens next.  Ted turns into Bob Saget, the end.

I think it is hilariously sappy when you rewatch it.

But frankly I'd go with sappy and wholesome over dark and shallow any day.

Admittedly I've not seen much of the post-(first)-cancellation run of Futurama; they don't air it on terrestrial TV here.  From what I have seen, I'm not particularly bothered it's going off the air again.

That being said, I'd keep it over The Simpsons.  I'm doing another runthrough of my Simpsons DVDs and refuse to buy anything after Season 8, where they were slightly starting to go downhill...  And they've got what, 25 seasons now?  Yikes.
