The Health Thread :3

Herro loverlies  :h_hugz:

I finally decided to create a lovely place where we can share information about how we can improve our quality of liefs. Like for example: work out ideas, physical therapy exercises, natural medicine, vitamins, food and anything you can possibly think of that you have read online or have talked about with your doctor.

I'll start :)

Crunchy Peanut Butter Thins

These crunchy little cookies are a satisfying alternative to regular peanut butter cookies. Chia seeds are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids - look for them in specialty health food stores if you don't see them in the regular grocery store.

Ingredients

Nonstick baking spray
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat or white whole wheat flour
1/4 cup rolled oats
1 tablespoon wheat germ
2 teaspoons chia seeds, optional
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup creamy natural peanut butter
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large egg white
1 ounce bittersweet chocolate, melted (about 2 small squares)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with aluminum foil with a 1-inch overhang on all sides. Spray lightly with baking spray.

Combine both flours, oats, wheat germ, chia seeds if using, salt and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Set aside.

Combine the peanut butter, brown sugar, vegetable oil and egg white in another medium bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until creamy, about 2 minutes. Add the dry ingredients and beat on low until a wet and sandy mixture that holds together when squeezed. Turn the dough out into the prepared pan and press into an even layer. Bake until golden, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool completely. Drizzle with the chocolate. Let the chocolate harden and break into eighteen 2-inch even pieces.

Sinus rinse: 4 parts salt, 1 part baking soda (NOT baking powder). Take 1/4 tsp of the resulting mixture and mix it into one of those NeilMed bottles. Make sure you use filtered water and nuke said water in the microwave for 30 seconds so it's not cold in your nose. I've started using it daily for my nose and it helps a ton with congestion!

I have a health question:

Have you guys ever heard of an adult developing asthma?

I didn't have it as a child but got it when I was 20. I came down with some really bad respiratory funk when I was living in California, and I've had occasional problems with asthma ever since. Usually not too bad, but if the pollution levels get really high then it gets pretty rough.

Allergies can develop at any point in your life once you've been exposed to the allergen at least twice.

That sucks. I have asthma. Thankfully it's mild enough that it doesn't bother me unless I run.

My solution? Do no exercise! :D

Join a gym and do 30 minutes of some type of cardio. That's the best health advice I have.

I try to work out three times a week or so. I do cardio and strength training most of the time. It's paying off; I'm a lot fitter and stronger than I used to be.

And Gonz, you troll :P
