- Playing episode 3. Ah, so THAT'S why I thought "Remembering Yesterday" first appeared in 3, not 2. The score in Cassima's Room and "Remembering Yesterday" have the same melody, but with different instruments!

No wonder I confused them.

Also, I'm going to be so happy whenever I get to downloading episode four (which I will do right after I'm sure that I've fixed "the glitch"). Why? Well, for one thing, I'll get to practice for when I show this game to Cassie again after 5 comes out. The other thing is that it will fix several animation glitches I've noticed in episode three:

The opening cutscene, the young Valanice just... Stands there instead of banging on the door.

Lieutenant Shorty points her finger instead of pinning her ears back, and also after her scene with the guard dogs, she slides away instead of walking. It was kinda funny, actually!

In the throne room, when Graham is SUPPOSED to hop up and down on one foot and yell when he steps on the nail, he stands there as if normal... And the ceiling doesn't even hit him!

Hakim appears at the Pawn Shoppe (is this the episode he appears in, or was it four? I can't remember!) and doesn't open the door. He stands there and does nothing, and when Graham goes to open the door, he knocks instead of opening it and the same message of, "Noone answers." "The owner must be out. I'll check back later."

And... That's all I've noticed thus far. Oh, and Wilco? Don't bother sending me a thing to fix this. For one, I want to see how many I can find, and two, I know this is fixed in ep. 4, as that's what I first downloaded and everything was fine.

Edit: Found another one! The red checker that stole the seashell. When Graham first it up, the checker just appears in the water instead of behind the rock, but Graham still goes through his animations as normal, even though until the checker bounces and rolls away, it doesn't do anything but sit there.

And another! The white pawns don't move during "That Puzzle", they slide. And, they're grey as if their model was still in the testing stage.

And another! (I'm finding a lot of these today!) When Graham puts the pea under Rosella's bed, she wiggles with no noise. Also, the text box for that death sequence goes by waaaaaaay too fast! And, I also found the Death by Morrigan I was looking for! Yay! ...and then I got locked into that scene. I would Retry, and be back at "Caw! Caw! Caw!" But as soon as I try to move away, she slashes me.

Also, when at the Isle of Wonder... In Chessboard Land, no matter what I click on, I can't talk to SITM&TRT nor can I grab the net after freeing the rope- Graham just gets up and down the gueotine !And speaking of which, every time I leave (thinking that I might need to do something else first, although I specifically remember that you could get them right away?!) the rope is back on the loop again... And then flooooats down as it unties itself!

It's the Magic Rope that unties itself!

Also, Hakim STILL isn't in, even though I have the Frozen Tear already. Without SITM&TRT and the net, without Hakim, I am unable to continue...

This is getting irritating! This should NOT be this difficult!

snabbott

Wow - I don't remember all of those problems. For the Pawn Shop thing, have you tried going back to the castle and then returning? I think that might trigger the pawn shop opening.

What? Right now? I've gone back to the Castle to show Cassima her necklace and get the red/white tile. Haven't gone back since.

What about Stick and Tomato though?

...Nope. Still no Hakim.

*sigh* Hey, Wilco? Any advice? Should I download episode four without finishing episode 3? Will that fix things? It seemed to work fine (aside from the ending of episode 3 not playing) when I did that. I'd imagine that would fix all those other glitches (does that mean no more Death by Morrigan though?) but... would that fix my "episode 3 ending crash" that I'd witnessed with the version I used to have?

snabbott

I don't know what's going on with those bugs - I don't remember any of those being in the released version of Ep3. You could try installing Ep4 to a different location without uninstalling Ep3. Your saved games should work for both.

Steve Abbott | Beta Tester | The Silver Lining

GrahamRocks!

But will that fix the ending crash?! That is the entire reason why I uninstalled and reinstalled just from episode 1-2-3 instead of the episode 4 build.

snabbott

Right. But if you have both installed, you might be able to get past these issues in the Ep4 build, save the game, and the continue from the Ep3 build. It's not ideal, but it might work.

What should I save it to? I don't want to make a mistake and save it to where I normally would, which would nullify the point.

I swear to God, if this doesn't work, Snabbott... I'll feed you to a Varren!

snabbott

Well, you could install it to something like C:\TSLEp4 - I assume that's not where you installed the Ep3 build. :P It's been a while - I don't remember if the games are saved under the game folder or in the user's profile folder - hopefully the latter. If it's the former, you would have to copy the saved games back and forth to make this work.

Steve Abbott | Beta Tester | The Silver Lining

GrahamRocks!

Well, I saved it to just my generic "games" folder, which I'd originally intended to use for DOSBox IIRC. All my other games are stored in Program Files (x86). I use Windows 7 btw.

Okay...! Setup Wizard for TSL E4, Go!

Saved to my generic "games" folder, not my Program Files (x86), I hope this works!

*clenches fist and growls* Snabbott... I will feed you to a Thresher Maw if this fails! Moreso if the ending doesn't play, than if I can't get into the Pawn Shoppe/ get Stick and Tomato than anything, but still!

...*goes back to desktop... and notices the icon for TSL is gone* ...

No.

...

...It couldn't have.

*goes to Windows Explorer, goes to both the generic "games" folder and then checks the Program Files (x86) for Phoenix Online and clicks on "saves"*

No.

No!

*loads up game, hears the Pandora's Scroll theme play instead of Valanice's Tower, checks her save games... nothing there!*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

*snarls, grabs Snabbott by the collar* What did I do wrong?! TELL ME! I'M SICK AND TIRED OF THIS! There HAS to be a way for the ending of episode 3 to play AS WELL as finishing the game properly with episode 4 installed! Surely there has to be!!!

...Okay. I've calmed down now. I'm sorry for snapping at you, Snabbott. :(

I did hear someone mention (you? Wilco? I don't remember) that if you save the game before that scene and restore afterwards (I'm assuming without engaging the cutscene) that it'll play.

Is that still true?

I hope it is, because I don't want to go through all this again. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled with the store version and hoping this works.

Also, this picture (http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/The_Silver_Lining, the one next to the picture of Graham standing by Cassima) kinda confuses me.

Why in the world is Graham bowing to Rosella?! He's a King and her father, she's a Princess and his daughter. Shouldn't she be beneath him in rank?

At least, I think it's Rosella anyway. I'm not sure who else that could be. It can't be Genesta (no butterfly wings).

Also, I like those old beta screenshots of Shadrack! :) Even unhooded, he looks awesome!

Whew! :sweating: I wasn't looking forward to being fed to a Varren or a Thresher Maw.

That was my personal experience - I can't guarantee that it will work, but it's worth a try. I have LOTS of saved games. Don't worry - we'll get you through this!

***Could you try something? Do a search for files named *.sav on your computer. You might find your saved games. You'd need to copy them to the /game/saves folder in the game install folder for them to work.***

That is odd. I'm thinking that's not Rosella. Maybe it's Beauty?

GrahamRocks!

Well, considering that I've already uninstalled the previous game, of course there's nothing there as of right now.

The store version of episode 1-2-3-4 is allllmost done.

GrahamRocks!

- Playing through episode 3. Again. This time with the episode 4 build instead. Looks like the glitches are fixed (or at least the intro is, I haven't gotten far)

I've noticed some little things in this build that I hadn't noticed before:

For one thing, when Graham walks either on the carpet or the floor, his footsteps change sound wise. I thought that was a nice touch of polish to the game. Was that always there?

For another, when I talked to Cassima just now and she said, "They've been good and haven't interrupted me." Graham chuckles at that line. I'm pretty sure he didn't do that last time.

And another, when I did the general 'look' at the Castle, I got a nice little fly-by of the area. That DEFINETELY is new!

GrahamRocks!

... *sigh* Your Save/Restore trick didn't work, Snabbott. I saved right before getting the Silver Moon back, restored, and got the last ingredient. Aaaaannnd.... CRASH! Again.

This is getting irritating! I'm even running the game as an Administrator (which I did to fix the "Death Scene Crash".

Any other suggestions? Please don't suggest reinstalling that 1-2-3 build, because we all know what happened last time: I got an Unwinnable situation for my troubles!

GR: post this info in the tech help forum. Weldon checks there far more than in this thread, so you're much more likely to get an answer and some help from him over there. (And he's the wizard at fixing this stuff!)

*snarls* WHY. WON'T. YOU. PLAY. ENDING!

Remember when I said this a few months ago?

Quote2. In episode 3 and 4 (I can't remember specifically which one), when Graham is talking to Hakim about his adventure, Graham says, "I'm sorry, my memory isn't what it used to be." even though it's been mentioned before in the Companion that Graham has an EXCELLENT memory which enables him to memorize something from a book from just a glance and is probably part of the reason why he did so good in school. This "I have a terrible memory" thing also bugs me because of the scene where The Ranger (is that his name? or is it just Ranger?) takes his scroll and shows him the story of the War of The Silver Cloaks, because after Graham figures out what's going on (the Black Cloaks messing around with time) he acts like he's never read the scroll or has forgotten what it said already.

King Graham... I love your character, really I do, but sometimes you can be so dumb!

2) I'd have to go look at the scenes to remember exactly what was said when...it's been a while! It's possible maybe it has to do with the order you ran into these particular events, maybe? But yeah, I'd need to look at it to answer more firmly. And yes, so far, he's just "The Ranger."

Quote...You can do it in a different order?

Well, apparently I can't go in a different order than that. Why? Well, the Horn is one of the instruments to get The Richest Fruit In All The Land, right? Well, you cannot get it unless you have the Memory Gem, which means that you'll meet the Ranger there, which means you'll get the War of the Silver Cloaks scene. Only after getting the Gem does Cocteau turn into a Beast, which allows you to get the White Rose to get An Ebony Rose Bathed In The Blood Of One Who Wishes To Enter The Realm Of Dreams. Right after that, Shamir's portrait appears and you talk to him and discover truly, that time is flowing backwards due to the Black Cloaks returning to power again. Graham is surpised by this, even though he SHOULD have figured out somewhat what was going on just from looking at the Scroll and listening to the story.

Seriously Graham? Your memory really is that bad that you can't remember the Ranger's words?

The only way I could see this working is: Graham thinking, "Hmm... could this mean...?" and not having what was told to him by Ranger not truly sinking in and "clicking" until Shamir told him what was going on.
