1st, the Screenshots look very good in the Inventory.  It excited me to see them.  Then reality hits me right in the groin.  A few screenshots is just that.  It shows a model in an environment.  Granted, the model and the environments looks very good,  but you have to draw many mnay more models, and many many more environments.  Then draw them over.

Now, that's just without mentioning the programming.  I have no idea how much programming is done.  Those screenies could just be a guy waling around using the crystal space engine, which requires not a whole lot of programming.

Needless to say, reading how big this game is planning on getting, I don't see it being completed for another 2 years.  That's assuming it will get completed, which I'm still pessimistic about it happening.

As I've said in the past, I do hope this gets done, and, if anything , maybe the developers/artists will us this as motivation, but I just don't see this project ever being 100% finished.

Remember the old saying: the 1st 90% take 10% of the time, the last 10% take 90% of the time.

I was waiting to see when you'll come once again to rain on our parade ;D
Are you one of those "only Tierra can do it" fans? ::)

I agree with most of what Copycat and TakariFreak say. The fact that you can't see the whole work while it's being done doesn't mean it's not being done. :-/
I guess SOME people will only believe the team is capable of completing the game only after they've downloaded and played it ;).
"Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

lol, its so funny, takari was as polite as she could ever be, shes a sweet girl and always been I guess copycat didnt get to read when I told someone some months ago to go f*** off lol, and I did say that "literally" lol
Perhaps its again the same person?, I forgot this user's name, I dont know Im not sure and seriously I dont care anymore. (btw if its the same person... dude, dont you have something else to do but to b**** at kq9 for your lack of trust?, pay us and we will do it faster, lol)
whatever this person problem may be it does not rely on us doing the game on time or not, the work is being done, the progress is obvious, we on the pr team as well as with some other members who helped out the contact, managed to get a hold of dimitris to get out "progress" somewhat showed at some level, we cannot publish every single little stupid thing we do, we need to work and in order things go by is when we decide what goes out and what stays in, anyhow, I believe we got the potencial to do something out of the given rule for a fan game, which its been saw by many fans out there, who are the ones, in a very personal statement to believe or not.
So to people like beernuts, and this other dude I once told him to please... get a life about it, to seriously if you want facts you got them, we are under no circumstance going to the rythm of that kind of request just cause of the sake they are not willing to believe anything but what they see, we are gaining no profit out of it, and it will take the time it will take, at the speed we go, we are certainly not covering 2 years as he "thinks it will be" so the point is, if you wanna be part of the KQ9 comunity here welcome, if you want to come and b**** about our work cause we wont show it all as you want us to, Im so sorry, but things dont work that way, as well as you for sure hope understand what you wrote and why it obviously goes by to many of us, not for just the team, but also from people who does believe in the project AND wanna be part of the KQ9 comunity.
What pisses me off a lot about that post is the fact that I feel like hes evaluation somehow the team like currently knew about it, if you would like to know then be polite and mingle here, READ WHAT OUR DIRECTORS THEMSLEVES SPEAK OUT HERE, and keep an eye on the project, dont just drop by one day, and just pop out some harsh comment about something you obviously dont know like here some fans have said, its obvious you havent been around for what you commented about and the way you did, we do have been given reports more than once, specially the main directors of the project, they every now and then drop by and comment about random stuff as well as they DO HAVE answered all that previously, even before the inventory story cover...

If you want a brief of my HUGE post up there, my point is I agree with whats its been said here, if you have a pesimistic attitude about it there is nothing we can possible do, the work is being done either you like it / believe it or not.
To show doesnt mean anything, the project is alive and kicking, in fact, we have a surprise coming for all who do like to stop by here and believe in us.

Another surprise?  oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!  When it's commin, huh?

And yes Say, I belive this is the same person you told to "f*** off".  Guess he doesn't listen huh?  I edited my post to its current state before actually posting it, the original chewed him out pretty badly, but I didn't want to downgrade these forums with that kind of language or give people the wrong view of me.

I hate to say this, but in a way, I know that there is a possibility this game may never get finished, and my pessimistic side doesn't believe it will get done in the very near future, but that doesn't stop my faith in the team.  I think the only reason I HAVE these thoughts is so I can have something to console myself on and be prepared in case the project DOES end up being cancelled.  Unlike our Anti-fan here, who claims he would like to see the game done, yet attacks by trying to get the rest of us to believe that it won't.  I'm sure everyone has their doubts, because a lot of fan-made games do end up getting cancelled more often than not.  But look at Tierra, they did it, and I feel they are somehow setting the pace for you guys (as inspiration)rest of us faith that fan made games CAN be finished and come out great.

And even if this game is cancelled tomorrow, we still have fun at these forums, don't we?  That's enough for me.

WE BELIEVE IN YOU! :suffer: No seriously, we do.

Mr. Nutts...  If that is indeed your real name.  Your post, in case you didn't realise from everyone elses posts...  Was a total and utter contradiction of itself.  So there. *pokes out mango tongue*

Oh, and I have total and utter faith that you guys'll finish this...  YOU HAVE TO *whinescreamclingtosomething*

I don't gloat, and I won't be happy when/if KQ9 doesn't finish.  And, I know you guys have said over and over again it will be finished, but just because someone says it doesn't mean its true.  I've sowrn I'd finished a game, only to have it die in lost enthusiasm.

But, good luck anyway.

Say

I dont want your sarcasm, neither I need your commentary here, so seriously, I didnt publish anything for people like you, in fact, when -I- that did the conection stuff happening on this stuff directly with the inventory I couldnt care any less for what you or other pesimists would think, we did it for "our fans" (obviously you are excluded), who whenever they got a concern about the game or anything at all, they are polite and kind to ever let us know in the right ways, withouth all the annoying decoration you use in picking the most annoying words ever.
These kind of situations just are a stupid rock in the road, you just throw it away and move on, so your lack of anything at all and that high attitude here, is not leading anywhere from the team people, as well as from our fans.
So for all I care your words are just upseting people here, as well as taking up space in the forum because the fact you think you know it all as it comes to game developing or as it comes to anything of live is your narrow perspective toward situations, and sadly.
AND FOR GOD SAKE, STOP TALKING LIKE YOU KNEW s*** ABOUT THIS PROJECT THE FACT YOU STOP HERE EVERY SINGLE MOMENT YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING AT ALL.
You might know about million plus one situations in life, well good for you, but concerning about "KQ9" you are as lost as you couldnt even seriously figure out at all.

Im going to make a personal statement here about this, I have been for a long time here, been involved into art as well as pr, so I hate when -PEOPLE ON THE TEAM- who is currently doing the work comes out some stranger trying to evaluate what got seriously no idea about
So when said, then its not enough, then it leads to happen to be a nice ocasion to us, yet is not enough either, so what is it, just for the sake to f*** up? hahahah, pointless.
And yes, I have, I am and I will fight up for this team cause I do believe in the work done, and the prospect of the yet to come.
Im terrible sorry for all those out there who choose not, Its kinda sad.
They rather fight over a stubborn idea which has no base, and later on quote till death to pretend to be witty.

Sorry its about drawing a line sometimes, I hate people come here and flame the project out, even katie pointed it out right, there is people who breath out from this project, dreams, hopes its not just that but people we have worked apprecciate and respect, to be disrespected and talking in behalf of a entire group which noone has clue but the ones who does speaks out, its about time someone says hey, please, thats enough, if you dont believe it, you did 2 threads about it, you got your point, true or not, things are happening either way.

I think beernutts is just one of those people who has been disappointed too often, and has a very hard time being optimistic about things even when they show a lot of promise. Don't be too hard on beernutts.

Meanwhile... even though I have been slightly disappointed at times (but not with KQ9), I just grin and bear it, hoping that success will arise in whatever form it chooses to come in.

I think the most worrying thing is if Sierra wants to close down the project. Actually, they can only prevent us from using certain names, such as King's Quest, but we could release a very similar game with such names removed.

I'm pretty sure that if Sierra wanted to shut down the KQ9 project, they'd have done it long ago, and they'd have also stopped the Tierra remakes.  Luckily, they haven't stopped it, and they woulda stopped the project a lot sooner than this!  Go KQ9 team :D *waveflag*

I think it has happened to everyone eventually that you are working, you are doing something and then just someone comes along and just to stress you out, out of nothing, I know he might be just speaking out, but still, its like to have someone breathing over your shoulder to wait till you do a mistake to point it out, its sorta a bit hurtful.
And yeah it sorta annoyed fans as well as team members, and you probably see it more in me cause Im usually the one that speaks out the most around here from the team, perhaps my language still is very personal ;D, but I think everyone got the idea alright :P

beernutts

You guys have 1 person (me) who comes on your boards an expresses doubt about the project, and a supposed "PR" person totally attacks me and my views with vulgarity and shows absolutely no restraint or professionalism.???  Most of the other posters would say they disagree with what I said, and go on to expound on why they disagree, but I don't see any of them personally attacking me.

Luckily I have thick skin, and I understand her passion for this project, but because my opinion (and that is exactly what it is) doesn't fall in line with hers or the teams, then I get attacked.

So, good luck to the development team and artists/modelers (no sarcasm) on getting the project done, but I'm not holding my breath ;)

I must speak in behalf of the PR Department and apologize for the way they reacted. I'm aware things got a little bit out of hands and I;m sure whether they had thought about it, that wouldn't have been the response.
