So I just saw the trailer for Legendary Pictures' "Pacific Rim" and... well just look at it

Am I the only one who thinks they mixed Gears of War, Portal and Neon Genesis Evangelion in a blender and hit the puree switch?

I was really interested in that movie when I first saw the trailer and thought it was some kind of cool Lovecraftian thing. Then suddenly giant robots showed up....

It was a tonal shift to ridiculousness for me.

I'm sure I'll probably end up seeing--most of my friends and my fiance are all itching to go to it. And I'm sure it'll be ridiculous and entertaining.

But man...I really wanted that awesome Lovecraftian story!
