That was acute movie but kind of obtuse. Right? :P
(Actually, I've never seen it.)

And Ron Howard is also the narrator and, I think, producer of Arrested Development, the best comedy show ever.

As for Whedon, I couldn't agree more.  He needs to do his own material to fit his own quirky style.  Put him in someone else's universe, and we'll have another Alien Resurrection on our hands.  And that does not need to happen.

If nothing else, Joss Whedon did a good job with The Avengers. It almost made me forget how much I hate his guts.

Yeah, I've never been the biggest Whedon fan.  I feel like his strength is the quirky dialogue, and his biggest weakness is that same quirky dialogue when it fails to work.  Firefly was good, but not as great as everyone acts.  It deserved more, but never had the chance to come into its own.  Serenity was fantastic.  I have no interest in watching Buffy.  But I just cannot get over the horrific writing he did for Alien Resurrection.  That was a horrendous movie.  Plus, from what I've read, he never takes responsibility when he messes up.  Apparently in interviews he blames Alien Resurrection on the director and the actors.  Aside from Winona Ryder, those were the two things the film had going for it!  The writing, story, and concept was just abysmal.

I've never seen Alien Resurrection all the way through, but I did watch the scene wherein Ripley mispronounces the word "fork" as "f**k." Thanks, Whedon. That was hilarious.
