It's the 4th of July, 2004!

Today the United States of America celebrate their independence from the British Empire!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, USA!

(I don't know much else with the history....I'll leave  that up to an American. :D)

And how sad that a Canadian makes the first post about it... ;) Ah well, they got the better of the two deals, I think. ;B Today is the day we celebrate the birth of our country, by blowing up a small piece of it! Have fun folks, and play safe with those high explosives! *hides his stash of plastique* Er, I mean... Just plain have fun! XB
He who laughs last, didn't get the joke! :suffer:

Thanks, J-R. :)

The ironic thing is, since today's a Sunday, most places are holding the "official" celebrations tomorrow. Ah, well, at least it means I get a long weekend. (Monday's an *unpaid* day off for me, unfortunately, but I guess I'll still take it.)

I'm likely going to be going to my hometown in the Berkshires tomorrow. One of the few things (actually, OK, probably the only thing) that Pittsfield, MA can get on the map for is that it has a reputation for having one of the biggest (if not *the* biggest) 4th of July parades in the US. ;D Plus it gets shown all over the country. Whee!

Peace & Luv, Liz

yay for a bonfire on the beach.
Now everything is clear
I erase the fear
I can disappear
(please) I don't ever want to make it stop

See, I'm thankful for it because were it never to occur, we might be a part of the same nationality.  And that just wouldn't be right... :D

Louisiana Night

USA's 228th birthday.

*shoots fireworks*

I can't see the fireworks  :( . The sun's getting in the way.

Something that many of the people here don't know. Louisiana fought in the revolutionary war, even though it didn't join the Union.

Happy Birthday USA!!
@LN: If the sun's getting in the way, why don't you shoot those fireworks in the other direction, away from the sun? 8)

Happy 4th of July!!  Of course, I finally get online at the end of it...but still!  228 years ago, we declared our independance from England...and some of us want to go back :P (well, at least for a visit!)

HAPPY 6th of July! I didn't get online for a couple days. ;]
Anyways, 228 years and 2 days ago, we delcared independence from Britain.  Except for Rhode Island which did that sometime in June...or maybe May.  I remembered on whatever day it was, but I don't anymor.  Despite that, we were reluctant to sign the Constitution because we were a colony full of smugglers, crooks, heathens, drunks, and various other unwanted types (like Jews and Baptitst! EWW!) (Just kidding!!!) and we didn't want to give up smuggling for some silly things like military strength and unity with the other colonies.  We could have been an economic power anyways, least for a while.
But it's ok.  We're still just as full of corruption as ever!  And, honestly.  How silly would it be to have tiny old Rhode Island as a country?  It would be like....the Vatican....except for pirates! ;D

I thought Rhode Island would have been the best state to visit(in New England). I was wrong?

Questing Character

Oh, no, no!! You were quite right.  Just don't go in any government buildings.  Or park in Providence parking garage (although that's robbery, not corruption). :P
Other than that, we're definitely the best state to visit in the entire country.  As long as you don't plan on being a clueless tourist (you hang with me, and you'll be fine. :D)

Jeysie

Western MA (the Berkshires specifically) is actually a very nice place to visit if you like scenery, music, theater, museums, cozy shopping centers, cozy restaurants, and college improv troupes. Otherwise we suck.

I'm not much of a tourist. I'm the kind of tourist nobody wants. The kind that doesn't like to spend money.
As for the clueless part...

Quoteif you like scenery, music, theater, museums, cozy shopping centers, cozy restaurants, and college improv troupes.

I like most of that, although I wonder about the music in MA.

You can pretty much find every type... although stuff like jazz, musicals, classical, barbershop, maybe blues, etc. would probably be the easiest to find. The Boston Symphony Orchestra is really nice... I got to listen to them rehearse once as a young 'un.

What I think of the "easiest to find".
Jazz=great
Musicals=depends
Classical=great
Barbershop=good
Blues=depends
