Episode 2 - Animation pause before action

I bought the season pass on Gog this weekend
Just finished Episode 1 (what a really good game!)

I have started Episode 2, but something is really bothering me:
Whenever I ask Erica to do an action, it goes like that
Erica move to action spot=> delay=>framejump=> action start

It's like the game has a set time for Erica to go from A to B but she actually walk faster.
The game still wait for Erica to arrive at B, and suddenly becomes aware Erica is already at B
It then jump to Action animation

ie: If Erica goes to the Morgue when Gallager is doing Davies Autopsy
I will ask her to use the Elevator
She will walk towards it
Stand still for 10-25sec
She will then "teleport" (as in some animation frames are skipped) a bit on the right and use the elevator panel.

I know this is not a major bug, but when it occurs on every action, it becomes quite annoying

Thank you for your time and for Cognition game

Gabazieute

I have made a little video to show you how annoying is this
(sound is off for size reduction)
This happens in EVERY Action

I'm gonna go ahead and assume the team is gonna ask you for your specs. Can you tell us about your RAM/processor/video card? And are your drivers up-to-date?

Drivers shouldn't be a problem because I had not such problem in Episode 1
But you are right,  still usefull to know about my PC ecosystem
Here is a dxdiag report :

I just made a test on my wife's laptop (Asus N75S)
Same problem.

Could it be that Gog version is bogus ?
I wish I could get some reply from devs too, but it seems I don't have such luck  :(

I'm waiting for my GOG discount, I'll also try it then.

As for other versions, I played PO version of 2nd episode early this year and haven't spotted significant delays.  There were some involving the elevator in the police station once in a while. Steam version is doing fine (tested now).

My usual settings: Fantastic, windowed, 1600x900.
My specs: i5 2400, 8GB DDR3, HDD 7200 RPM, ATI Sapphire HD 6870.

I've been playing through the Episode 2 version that we supplied GoG with and haven't had any of the issues described here, so I'll be spending some time tomorrow (sorry, been trying to keep up with all kinds of weirdness we've been experiencing with the Steam release) seeing if I can figure out what the cause could be.

No worries.
If I you need me to send logs, debugs, trace, please ask for it.

here is the saved game I used in the video above.

I'm running into this same problem, also on the gog version.  Episode 1 was fine, and I haven't yet tried 3 and 4.  I noticed I'm not able to double click to run either if that's somehow related.  I won't have access to that machine until tonight, so I can post system info then if needed.

I'm having the same issue, using episode 2 GOG version 2.0.0.3.  All actions lag for a second or two just as Erica reaches the location.  Didn't have the problem with Ep 1, and haven't tried the later episodes.  I've tried launching the game with reduced graphics settings to see if that would help, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I was able to do a little more testing.  I tried all graphics and windowed combination with no effect.  Episode 3 works fine and running is back there as well.  I also tried Episode 4 but had to stop as I couldn't skip to a normal section without spoilers.

GoG should have updates to all episodes early this coming week, hopefully that'll resolve this odd issue in Episode 2 for people.

Hey, just came here to report the same issue. Episode 1 (Phoenix Store version) was fine, Episode 2 (GOG version) has the 5-10 second delays before almost every action.

I read your last comment ("GoG should have updates to all episodes early this coming week"); I'm not sure if this has happened yet. I have GOG version 2.0.0.3, which I downloaded on Oct 02. That is still the current version on GOG.com. (Happy to post my DxDiag, but it looks like the issue has been resolved and just needs to be pushed out.)

Either way, glad to hear this only affects Episode 2 and not the subsequent episodes.

I did get updated PC versions over to GoG, they just wanted both PC and Mac updates to go out together so I had to put together and upload the Mac stuff as well which I just finished last night. So the updates are still coming, just taking a bit longer than I had originally anticipated.

It's been three weeks since the last post to this thread, and it doesn't appear that the GOG version has been updated yet, since it's still the 2.0.0.3 installer for episode 2 available for download from GOG.  Can we get an update on when this is expected to be updated?

Gabazieute

It has been almost 2 months since I have reported that issue.
I'm not the one to go on a rant, but can we have some news please ?

If GoG is blocking the thing, tell us some we can get our torch and pitfork ready. :P

I understand the Steam release was a major time consuming event, but please don't forget your other customers...  :motestare:

Have you not seen any updates to the episode from GoG at all? It's been some time since I sent the newest versions over to them.

As of right now, GOG still only provides the same 2.0.0.3 installer version of episode 2.

Today, I found out that GoG as put up a patch
Windows Installer 2.0.0 => setup_cognition_episode2_2.0.0.3
Universal Update 2.0.1 => patch_cognition_-_episode_2_2.0.1.4.exe

Going to try that

[Edit]

Patch 2.0.1.4 seems to have fix the problem for me
Thank you \o/
