So, the entire sorry saga with TSL didn't damage your chances for working on a Gabriel Knight remake, then?

It would seem not. We're very excited to be working on this project and hoping to do a solid job for us, for Jane, and for Activision.

I imagine Wilco's avatar to be the reaction face of the whole PO Studios team when they confirmed they were working with Jane Jensen to make a Gabriel Knight remake a reality  ;D

More than just cookies, I'd think too!

Haha, I'd believe so as well :)

Phoenix is making a sequel to Gabriel Night? Did I miss something here?

Yes, they're remaking Gabriel Knight 1. More accurately Phoenix have been sub-contracted by Pinkerton Road (who're making the game for Activision) to code it.

I heard the news! Congratz on getting to remake GK1! It's looking great so far!

HitBattousai

Just as a general suggestion, I suspect this would have happened anyway, but a Gabriel Knight: 20th Anniversary section on the forum would probably be good.

KatieHal

Indeed! Created, and I'm moving this topic over there :)

I hope it brings more fans to the series, though I can't say I see a reason to purchase it with the original readily available and still good looking, with a solid credit of actors no less.

Of course if this led to a remake of The Beast Within then that would be swell.

One obvious reason to get the game is if the remake is popular enough, the sales might inspire some backing for a fourth GK, new games from Phoenix/Pinkerton Road, or as you indicated, future remakes.  I can't really see how GK2 can be remade in a similar fashion unless there's a high quality source video available for it that annihilates the video quality of the original or everything is changed to a different engine entirely(which would be tough).  GK3 would probably be a reasonably easy remake by comparison.

Bludshot

Haha I don't think anyone wants another FMV Gabriel Knight, but unlike the original having a new cast and engine for GK2 would be a huge improvement.

And it would take more than a facelift to fix GK3.

*shrug* I liked GK2 and 1. The first captured me almost immediately, while the second grew on me after a bit. The third? Eh, too slowly paced and really bad 3D. Nice music though!

stika

I always liked GK 2 better for the story. Though I love all 3 games (even if the third one had that mouse-stache puzzle :P)

Overall, I can't wait to play the remake! :D

Bludshot

GK2 is my favorite, if just for the story.  But that fmv stuff does take it's toll.

I actually like the FMVs they're a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.

Also, did you know one of the extras was a reviewer for a UK videogame TV show named bad influence?

Intendant S

I actually really liked the interactions between Dean and Peter.  They worked quite well off of each other.
