This is rather pointless post, but thought I'd show off my new avatar screenshot from Lord of the Rings Online.

He is Graham, as I'm sure you can tell. He is a Minstrel of the land of Dale... and he wants his hat back.

Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

This is the hat he's had to make do with, since some rascially hobbit (I suspect Farmer Maggot, its his field) glued, stapled, and nailed his hat to that scarecrow.

Unfortunately, he tried dying the hat navy (only blue color he could find), but it came out looking darker than his old hat. He's also not much of a fan of the atrocious yellow band, but couldn't find a way to remove it.  The hobbit merchant he bought it from in Michel Delving had stapled it on too tight. He doesn't mind the peacock feather much, but would rather have a feather that was a bit larger (and maybe in a color better matching his shirt).

Did he try dyeing the yellow band the same color as the rest of the hat?

Unfortunately, the dye apparently doesn't stick to the band, LOL.

We're roleplaying in the King's Quest world: come join in the fun!

Glad you like it. If I have the time I'll add a picture of him on a horse, and some more daytime shots. The first one is kinda dark. I'll also show the menu which shows his name :).

Naw, because if you are still addicted to WoW you will lose those years anyways, a MMORPG more or less won't change that, can't lose the same years twice.

It's a good game. I like it some ways more than WoW now. But that's because I'm a huge LOTR fan. I love my Hobbit character, Zippo Lightfoot. Its got a very beatiful world, and the designers have done a good job creating stories that fit into the books pretty well, at least the trilogy and the Hobbit, they don't have rights to using Silmarillion, Children of Hurin, Unfinished Tales, or HoME. But even then they have stealthily snuck in a few nods to other books without using any names that would get them in trouble.

Its very epic. More serious than WoW, although it has Tolkien inspired humor, especially around the Shire.

It has some quests that feel somewhat adventure game like.

I still like WoW but have a hard time finding time to play it, and I currently can't afford the monthly fees (I have had the Lifetime membership on LOTR since its release).

However, two things to think about is LOTRO is almost all PvE, there is very little PVP, its mostly about exploring the world and getting together in fellowships (the game's version of a party). If your looking for crazy things like flying and or swimming underwater, it doesn't exist. The visuals and the scale of the world make up for that though.

I have to say Moria was one of my favorite places when they added that expansion, its thrilling being in a region that's all underground, and feels like a super dungeon.

The game is going on a free-to-play model later this year, so you could give it a try for yourself. But ya if your the sort that gets addicted, it could be just as bad as WoW.

Ooh, cool pictures. Even though it's not the 3-D Graham from TSL, it gets me excited that I'll get to play him....
This is Nifty, Royal Heir.

I'm like, an adult now or something? Sounds fake, but okay.

I'm a HUGE LOTR fan, so it sounds like I'd love it, I think I know what I'm going to ask for my birthday from the boyf this year ;)  :suffer:

So how does it work then? (my work computer wont let me access the website) If you pay for the triple pack (think it's around £30/£40), do you have to pay anything else?

Well you receive one month free to play, then you have to get onto a subscription model of some sort, or buy subscription cards. It's usually a monthly subscription, between 9.99 and $14, depending on what deals they were running. Once you get onto a certain rate you maintain that rate until you decide to quite. Though you could upgrade to the cheaper rate, if the deal comes up. There was also a lifetime model, which meant you spent $200 to $350, one time (plus the cost of the software), and you can play the game as much as you want. You only have to play for expansion packs.

That is changing however;

http://www.lotro.com/betasignup/

Click on the links at the bottom, FAQ, and Already a Subscriber. It should give you an idea how the Free-to-Play model will work. So coming this fall you won't necessarily have to "buy the game" right away, and will be able to buy "quest packs" and "add-ons" and a special "currency" for a new in-game store as you go.

Since I have lifetime accounts, I will be getting bonus perks such as extra monthly currency for the new in-game store.
