With Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sites being such a big part of gaming these days, I thought it would be a great idea to start a thread of interesting projects currently running.  If you've got one you'd like to share, don't hesitate to post the link here.

One aspect of adventure games, or really any game at all, that's important to the playing experience is music.  It helps to breathe life into the story.  But, few actively pursue it as a central theme.  Enter Bolt Riley, a story of reggae music and finding one's place in society.  Working your way up to being a legend is the name of the game here.  And it looks like a great take on the genre.

I actually haven't been keeping a lot of attention on KS these days, yes I know, shame on me :(

Are there any WRPGS on KS right now? I totally need to check it out!

Intendant S

WRPGs?  Not to my knowledge.  I am backing a JRPG-like, though.

I saw a kickstarter a while back for some guy who wanted people to give him money so he could do whatever he wanted with his life. That is a cool idea. I saw a beggar with a sign that read "Need money for beer - why lie?". I actually did give him something, I appreciated the honesty.

Oh yeah I saw Cosmic Star Heroine, as a fan of old 8 bit and 16 bit Phantasy Star games I really wish I had the disposable income to back them

The horror...the horror!  What is it about scary games that draw us to them?  Why do we let our fears out and play around with pixelated horrors and gore?  I think science is still trying to figure that one out, but in my opinion it's because we LIKE to be scared out of our wits.  Which is why we're featuring a documentary on these creepy and horrifying games.  Take a look into the looking glass at Playing With Fear, a feature film and Web series dissecting the art, craft and community of horror video games.

The first Kickstarter campaign for the 7th Guest 3: The Collector failed, so they have started another of sorts at a lower budget point: https://trilobyte.crowdhoster.com/the-7th-guest-3-the-collector

The awesome guys at Infamous Quests just launched a Kickstarter for an old school hint book for their Quest for Infamy retro-style adventure game. Complete with the red cellophane decoder that we all remember and love from the glory days of Sierra On-Line. Also, if you missed out on the original campaign, you can get a copy (physical big box or digital) on some of the tiers.

That art does look quite good.

Steampunk is a genre that doesn't get as much love as it deserves. Like its cousin, cyberpunk, it deals with themes of advanced technology (for its time, at least) and with the plight of a downtrodden people, forced to live in disgusting and poor conditions, while the upper class lives off of wealth. Unlike cyberpunk, though, its generally represented in a past setting (usually in the 1800s) instead of the near future. Enter Blackmore, the latest in an ever increasing stable of crowdfunded adventure games and paying homage to this underutilized subsection of science fiction storytelling.

Also, if you like visual novels, the first one of this series was pretty good and the creators have gotten on the Kickstarter bandwagon to try and make more: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dischan/dysfunctional-systems

Dystopian and post-apocalyptic titles are pretty commonplace in media in any form, and with good reason. It takes a bleak look at what the future could hold for humanity should it ever stray towards the path of self-destruction. A warning letter to future generations to get their act together, if you will. And to stand out in the crowd you'd need to have some something unique to get people to take notice of it. Dead Syncrhonicity promises the standard trope and more. With a twist unlike any other that's come before it.
