Surviving higher falls in KQ8

Here's something really neat I've learned:

In KQ8, Connor can only fall about 8 feet without dying.  But there is a bug where Connor will survive a fall if he is sheathing or unsheathing a weapon when he hits the bottom.  Although you cannot start such an action while he is falling, you can start it just as he starts to fall, and it will allow you to survive higher falls.

The height from which you can survive doing this is limited, because Connor needs to still be sheathing or unsheathing his weapon when he hits the bottom.  The longer it takes to sheath or unsheathe the weapon, the farther Connor will be able to fall without dying.  To make it last as long as possible, switch between your hand and ranged weapons rather than just taking out or putting away a weapon, and use a combination of hand and ranged weapons that takes the longest to switch.  It varies depending on which hand weapon and which ranged weapon you have, and whether you're switching from your hand weapon to your ranged weapon or your ranged weapon to your hand weapon.

I haven't done much with this yet, but I've been able to make Connor survive the drop to the SW corner area off the map in Daventry.  That is one of the tallest drops in the game I know of.  (Recently, I used the "getloc" console command to get the Z values when Connor was standing at the top and bottom and calculate the height, and found that, at a scale of 1 ft : 512 units, it is exactly 59 ft.)

For examples of this, see this speedrun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOb1cGqfyVk

I recall you can also exploit healing items to get through what were supposed to be impassable deadly areas, like the spirits guarding the Hammer of Azrael and that ice lake.
