About 3 miles which isn't bad if it had been flat all the way.

What is inclining? Bicycling, roller blading, or something else?

Yonkey

Inling is inline skating == rollerblading  ;D

OK, I figured as much. :) I know roller blades are called inline skates... I'd just never heard anyone refer to using roller blades as "inlining". Maybe it's a regional thing... around here we call it "blading".

Roller blading to work? Pretty nifty!

We just call it "(inline) rollerskating" (ofcourse translated into its Flemish counterpart), AFAIK, but I've been of the rollerskating-scene for too long. :-X

Depends on what you call 'flat' and what you don't.

Inlining is the actual activity of skating on inlines. Roller blades is a brand name. It has become synonomous with inlines, but it is actually a brand of inlines. It's called inlines b/c the wheels are in a line rather than next to each other like in roller skates.

Jeysie

That's probably why we call it "blading"... Americans associate everything with brand names. ;)

In Arkansas, all sodas are called Cokes.

I've never known that, but overhere, almost all writing pens are either 'Bic' or 'Parker', two brand names. We also name our rain wear by brand name ('K-Way'), and I'm pretty sure there's some other things I can't think of right now.

I've been out running for a couple of weeks now every other day, and I hate running! Sure it feels good after but during?! It's boring, it hurts, it's boring! "Just think of something else, let your mind drift away and just pound that pavement" What a load of crock! My mind is busy trying to make my body go, when my body is screaming signals telling my mind to stop running.

...if I could just get a ball involved, that would change a lot of things....

I love walking if it's to get somewhere... the city I grew up in was kind of small, so I got used to walking almost everywhere. But I find walking just for the sake of walking to be kind of boring. Unfortunately it's so hot and muggy right now that if I walked to work I'd be all sweaty all day... and after work I usually just want to be home, not taking the time to walk home. :P Of course, the other 3/4 of the year it's too cold to go for a walk!

So...

has this thread moved to non-ball/puck sports?

Yonkey

You're the one that brought it off topic, you tell us!  ;P

If there was a ball involved, I'd get as far away from it as I could. A few weeks ago I was forced to participate into a football (soccer if you're American) game. Not to my surprise, my team lost and I was exhausted. Did I tell you a hate football/soccer yet?
Just walking is no problem, even at an average speed, all day if need to, but I haven't got the endurance to run very far. Neither do I have enough endurance to ride bikes up a hill with a long slope. As long as it's flat, I can ride upto 50 kms without serious repercussions.

Oh...  ;]

If we can go to non-ball/puck sports, I enjoy track, and almost any sport related to swimming.

Due to the fact nobody could ever teach me a good swimming technique, I have to apply too much force when swimming and therefor won't get very far. So no water sports for me. :S

I lived next to the Wachito River when I was growing up(I'll guess that it was a quarter mile away). I also took swimming lessons. There's one problem I haven't managed to overcome yet...

I sink like a rock  :(
