Critical bug in Markhams office

I experience a bug in senator Markham's office. I have spoken to him, looked at everything, closed the blinds, looked at the window and used the "brains" icon on it.
When I speak to the senator, I see his fingers on the screen, but Malachi does not tell the numbers. It takes an unusual long time for the dialogue to appear, and I can only ask if I can see the e-mail.
The strange thing is, I play this game for the second time, and the first time everything worked as expected.

Once you see Markham entering his password on the screen, you should get an inventory item that shows what the password is. Malachi never actually says it himself.

But this inventory item never shows up; I can only ask - again and again - to see the e-mail. When I finish the conversation, nothing has happened. No new information on my phone, no new inventory item.
