Hi,
I play the game on 1920x1080 and can only activate small fonts. If I activate medium or large font there are no shown subtitles at all (the dialoguebox is shown but no text). Could this be becaus I play on WinXP? Is there a way to fix this? Are there othger people who are haveing the same problem?

snabbott

Hmmm... That's odd. I just tried it (on Windows 7), and the subtitles appear to be working fine. I don't know if it could be related to XP or not.

Just to verify - this is with The Silver Lining, not another game, right?

Have you tried setting it to a lower resolution? You might also want to make sure you have the latest video drivers for your system - I know all kinds of strange things mysteriously get fixed by new video drivers.

If Weldon were here, he'd probably suggest running dxdiag.exe and attaching the results here. That might turn up something useful.

Meanwhile I've tried it on win7 as well. NVidia GTX650Ti with the newest driver (at least on win7 it is the newest driver - I will try to update the driver on my XP system and attach you a dxdiag here). I already tried to turn down the resulution of the game as well as the settings - same result. Yes, it is The Silver Lining (Ep.1-Ep.4) and I can see the dialogue as long as I switch to medium or large fonts. I will make some screenshots as well to demonstrate the issue.

I have installed the newest driver on my WinXP system - without success. In the attachement I have included screenshots taken with different font size and different resolutions (same scene). I have also included the dxdiag log and a screenshot of my driver data.

By any chance, are you using a "Custom DPI Setting"?

One of our developers said that that has caused layout issues in the past.

Also, have you tried running windowed rather than full screen?

No, I am using normal DPI setting (96DPI) and just tried to run it in a window. Strangely here I only have the option to run it in 800x600 but still no success with the font.

Well, I'm stumped. :-\ Very frustrating!

It's a long shot, but you could try re-downloading the game in case something got corrupted.

I tried to redownload the game but your servers seem to have some problems. Several days for the download is not good and the first time I downloaded it in hours. Will try again later and keep you informed if it hepled.

MarkoH01

Hi,
now I managed to redownload the game but still no success with the large font. It seems that the game just does not like my graphic card (NVidia GTX 650Ti).

snabbott

Well, that's annoying! >:( I wish I knew how to fix it. :-\

So do I but if I find out I will post it here.

Yeah it's likely the engine being outdated just means that as newer cards come along there will be some compatibility issues that creep up. It's unfortunate, but not really something we can do much of anything about.
