:'( Everybody's listing foods for snacking on that I can't eat!!

But that's alright.  Ice cream is one of the healthiest things for me to eat anyways. XB (This diet's not *all* bad. :P)

koko_99_2001

How about adding chocolate syrup and resees sprinkles to the icecream?  Now that's good!

I didn't say icecream was bad...it just makes the icecream even better! :P

lmao, I just realized how unhealthy this diet I'm on would be for most people.  James listed more stuff I can eat than Neil. :P (Uhm, as long as the apples are peeled, otherwise you're equal)

Jeysie

So, what should someone who can't cook (and doesn't have time to anyway), gets hungry every two to three hours, and wants to lose weight, eat? ;P

Not that my body is capable of losing weight, anyway. I remember when I was a teenager, I spent two months eating right and exercising an hour each weekday at the local gym (not to mention walking everywhere as much as I could) and by the end of it I *gained* five pounds. What a complete waste of time *that* was. :P

koko_99_2001

Of course, you could have been gaining muscle, Jeysie.  I walked every day last summer, and put on more weight before I lost it.  Muscle weighs more than fat.

My favourite cereal: Honey Nut Cheerios
My favourite snack: tortialla chips w/ shreaded cheese
My favourite fruit: strawberries
My favourite vegetable: black-eyed peas and potatoes

Cat gets the record for listing the *most* things I can't eat! WOOHOO!!
And in case anybody's wondering, I don't really have more than a few favorite foods...they don't fit into those categories...so that's why I'm not answering and talking about my diet instead. ;D

Jeysie

So basically, you're not allowed to eat anything healthy? You have some weird doctors. I mean, I know you're supposed to gain weight, but I would think it would be better on your body to gain weight eating healthy stuff... ???

Well, Jeysie, maybe you shouldn't be guaging it by weight loss, but rather by how you feel.  I know when I was boxing for awhile, there were some nights I got only 5 hours sleep but still had the energy for the entire day.  Where now, I can get a full 8 hours sleep and still be tired.

And I'm not making a direct correlation to you, but there are people who by definition are "obese" and can still do the Ironman triathalon.  Point is, health isn't necessarily a weight issue. (on top of Cat's point that muscle weighs more than fat)

J-R: Perhaps... it was something like 9 years ago, so I don't remember much about how I felt. :P

The *only* time I remember "getting smaller" was when I had to stay at a foster home for a while. We'd have a bowl of cereal before leaving in the morning for school, then my foster mother would cook up a dinner when we got home. (A quite good dinner at that!) She completely didn't understand the concept of a snack. (If I asked her for some fruit or something sometime after dinner, she'd ask if I was hungry because I didn't eat enough at dinner. She didn't really understand the concept of eating something just because it tastes good. Just as well, I suppose.)

I'd end up not eating lunch, because the food at my school was horrible. Finally, I had to make a 45 minute walk to the house from school every weekday. Dunno how much I lost exactly, but my pants got awfully loose.

Of course, I'd never be able to pull that off again... if I tried eating only two meals now, I'd be headachy and tummy-grumbly for most of the day. :P (Yeah, I know that's not exactly healthy to only eat twice a day, but it *is* the only way I ever lost weight! :P )

Actually, I hated that part about university too.  Since classes are arranged so horribly, you can't always eat lunch/dinner at the same time.  There are some days you can, and other days you have to wait an hour and a half.  Needless to say, no matter how much food I brought, some days I would be starving and some days I would be forcing myself to eat (then starve later when I actually was hungry). :X

I packed lunches and ate them in class whenever I was hungry.  I did this every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on year, as I had classes from 8:30 to 13:30 straight with no breaks.
One day I decided to get a nice caffeine high and get all the caffeine loaded teas between each class, starting just before my first class at 8:30.  As you can guess, by 13:30, I was pretty wired.  (and I had to pee lots! :D)

I <3 tea.

Well, I was in a hurry when typing the other one...so I'll add on right here.

There's a pregnant woman in my first class (she's only 4 mos along)...and everyday, she reaches into her backpack, and pulls out food.  Twenty minutes later, she's reaching again and pulling out more food.  It's hilarious!  Of course, it's also acceptable, since she's pregnant...but I find it SO funny.

On Thursday, we had just finished our test and a group of us were waiting in the hall just talking, and she goes "is there a microwave anywhere on this floor?"  I say that it's probably in the teacher's lounge.  So she decides that we're going to find it and she pulls out her "Easy Mac"  We walk the whole floor and can't find a microwave.  So she goes into a teacher's office and asks...and is allowed to use that teacher's microwave!!  At least the pregnant woman got her "Easy Mac."  I'm still laughing over it.

I could never eat in class.  Chips and stuff are too noisy and the starving people beside you always watch while you eat. ::)

I did use to drink lots of coke in lectures though, not only to satisfy hunger but to stay awake. XD

Oh man, I wouldn't eat snack food.  I'd eat my lunches.  Usually some type of deli-meat sandwiches.  Mmmm...  :D
